Sony aims to be the First Third Party Seller to Release Android 7.1.1

According to Xperia Blog, Sony intends to become the first third party supplier to roll out the recently declared Android 7.1.1 update. As per the Xperia Concept development team, it is the firm’s first priority.

The team also said that, “If you spot any other vendor (excluding Google) releasing this faster than us, prepare your rotten tomatoes.” The firm has already got source code is now waiting for the application suite (GMS) and the Compatibility Test Suite (CTS) from Google.


Once it has these utensils, it can start improve the firmware for use on Xperia-branded tablets and devices. The Android 7.1.1 update comprises many new features, including a start over alternative in the power menu and picture keyboard support.


The update has already arrived on Android one so the company has to accelerate, factory pictures for Pixel and Nexus devices are available. There is no information regarding how long it will take other companies to roll out the update but we anticipate that all companies want to compete each other so Sony needs to work hard if it aims to beat its rivals. In addition, according to previous news the new Nougat concept update carries a build number of 38.1.A.0.367 and brings VoLTE support to Sony Xperia X.
