Report: OnePlus 3 Halts Production of OnePlus 3 to Release New Snapdragon 821 Based Variant

As per industry sources, OnePlus could stop production of its OnePlus 3 device to make way for a new variant. The device may named as  OnePlus 3s or OnePlus 3 Plus.  The Chinese manufacturer reportedly working on a refreshed version of the OnePlus 3 which will come with Snapdragon 821 processor, while the base OnePlus 3 model is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820.

As per industry sources cited by GizmoChina, another change in the OnePlus 3 smartphone is expected a different display. The device may sport LCD panels instead of AMOLED display. The reason of using LCD panel is said to be a shortage of AMOLED panels.

A tweet shared by OnePlus India states that, "What do you think OnePlus is up to? All shall be revealed soon". It includes some options such as new smartphone, new colour variant, new product unveiling, new shopping experience, or new software experience. The teaser hints that the device would be unveiled soon in India.

We anticipate that the company will offer a new smartphone with latest software, new color option, and a new purchasing option. Meanwhile, it’s not confirmed yet either the company will release a new handset or a new variant of its existing flagship. However, we expect to hear about it soon. OnePlus 3 was launched in India back in June and the CEO Pete Lau gave a hint that the smartphone will get Android 7.0 Marshmallow updates soon.
