Apple has Signed First Wind Power Deal in China

Apple has purchased 30 percent of evenhandedness in four corporations to lope four wind power schemes in the regions of Henan, Shanxi, Shandong and Yunnan. The Goldwind is the world’s largest wind turbine maker; Apple announced that it will associate with Goldwind. The wind turbine maker will produce 285 megawatts of wind power.


 

Lisa Jackson, vice-president of environment, policy and social initiatives at Apple said that, this marks Apple’s first foray into wind power and is its largest clean energy project to date. The four firms are under Beijing Tianrun New Energy Investment Co. Ltd, a supplementary of Goldwind, the announcement stated “We’ve been very vigilant about the oversupply problem. So we work with Goldwind to make sure that the four projects we choose are in provinces that don’t have a curtailment issue,” Jackson said.


Apple is determined to improve the environmental impact of its supply chain, which is accountable for more than 70 percent of its total carbon footprint.Almost a year ago, Apple CEO Tim Cook declared that the firm aimed to create its supply chain in China power-driven by 100 percent renewable power. He promised to offer 2,000 megawatts of clean energy in China and 4,000 megawatts around the world.
