Sony Launches Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact at IFA

Finally, Sony officially launched Sony XA and Sony X Compact at IFA in Berlin. The former will be available for purchase from October whilst Sony X Compact will go on sale in September. The pricing details of both devices aren’t revealed so far, price tags are anticipated to reveal at local launch of both smartphones.

The Sony Xperia XZ is a flagship smartphone, which could be descendant of Xperia X. The key features of the smartphone are camera, design, performance, and battery. The device is made of a branded material called ALKALEIDO. The ALKALEIDO is a fancy word for a curved aluminum piece, which feels decent in touch and quite blotch resistant.

 

Xperia XZ

As for specifications, the Xperia XZ packs a 5.2 inch IPS LCD screen with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution. Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820, and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. The smartphone has 32 GB native storage with 3 GB of RAM. In the camera section, there is a 23 MP primary camera with LED flash, and 13MP camera for selfies. The main camera comes with autofocus, phase detection, laser assist, and color detection that delivers high quality pictures.

 

The Xperia XZ supports Quick Charge 3.0, and has a 2900 mAh battery which supports adaptive charging. The device comes in Forest Blue, Mineral Black, and Platinum color options. We expect USD 782 price tag for Xperia XZ smartphone. The device will be available in both single and dual-SIM variants.


Xperia X Compact

The Xperia X Compact is a compressed variant of the Xperia X. We can call it a mini version of Xperia X. The device features a 4.6-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) IPS display, powered by Snapdragon 650, coupled with 3GB of RAM.


Similar to Xperia XA, the Xperia X Compact also features a 23MP rear camera but with a 5MP front camera. The device supports USB Type-C port and supports Quick Charge 2.0. The phone is made of plastic and it is lightweight as compared to other devices in the line-up. The smartphone is expected to be priced around US $558. The Xperia X Compact is available in a Mist Blue, White, and Universe Black colors.
