HMD Officially Acquires Nokia Smartphone Business

HMD global Oy is a Finnish company that develops phones under the "Nokia" trademark name. Today, the company has taken over Nokia tablets and phones business. The exclusive authorize expands 10 year onward and wrap the whole world excluding Japan.  Nokia firm will accept royalty payment for Nokia branded devices crafted in the HMD for both the name and for the intellectual property used.


It’s significant to articulate that Nokia is not an investor or a shareholder in HMD. Now FIH Mobile-a Foxonn subsidiary will be crafting Nokia branded feature smartphones. The move absconds HMD to center on the Android-powered side of things.


The website nokia.com/phones handled by MHD guarantees new smartphones coming in 2017. For new development notifications you can sign up via email. The website now rolls a number of Nokia featured smartphones, which used to be manufactured by Microsoft, until the firm drop off the factories to Foxconn technology.  


Moreover, upcoming Nokia devices rumored to be powered with Snapdragon 820 and support either 5.2 inch or 5.5 inch display with QHD resolution. The smartphones could be waterproof and expected to launch at MWC 2016.


The Nokia D1C tablet will be powered by 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor. It will pack a 5.5-inch full HD display with 1080p resolution.  The smartphone will Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.  The Nokia D1C has 3GB RAM and it will have either 16GB memory or 32GB internal storage. It will house a 16MP rear camera while selfie camera lens is not known yet.
