Samsung galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Review

Samsung has released the most awaited smartphones galaxy S7 and S7 Edge with surprising offer of free Gear VR headset and a 6-game bundle, although the offer is for limited time. This time the smartphone giant is surprising their consumer with some new features like water resistant casing, always on display, micro SD card slot expandable to 200 GB, wireless charging, larger battery capacity and much more than expectations.

 

·       Design

S7:

At first glance it looks the same as S6 from the front with difference in rear side being rounded away, 152 Gms of weight makes it heavier and with IP681 ratingthe water resistant feature allows you to take it 1.5 meters deep into water for 30 minutes.

S7 Edge:

S7 Edge has bigger size than S7 and also it has weight of 157 Gms making it heavier than galaxy S7, it is also water resistant.

 


·       Screen

S7:

Screen size is pretty big with 5.1-inch QHD Super AMOLED display which imparts impressive colors and resolution to the screen making its display more appealing, pixels are closing down to  1,440 x 2,560 making it sharp enough to see any pixels visible. Galaxy S7 has ~577 ppi pixel density. The glass and display are set closer making the display a brighter and clearer.


S7 Edge:

S7 edge has bigger screen size of 5.5’’, QHD Super AMOLED display, resolution is 1,440 × 2,560 with pixel density of ~ 534 ppi. S7 edge has dual edges making its shape curved rather than flate, upon swipe we can see app shortcuts and widgets on its edges.

 

·       Always on display

Both S7 AND S7 Edge have a new feature called The always on display giving us the freedom to check notifications and time without bothering to press the power key on and on, this feature consumes less than 1% battery per hour which is more power saving than consuming more battery by pressing the power button hundreds of times a day.

 


 

·       Camera

S7 and S7 Edge comes with dual-pixel technology and have fast autofocus for lesser blur and a new advanced sensor for catching details even in low light, with 12 MP rear and 5 MPfront camera, it may indicate downgrade as compared to S6 with 16 MP rear camera but actually its camera feature is improved, with addition of slightly wider aperture and given the larger pixels 25% more light is letting in to have more detailed and sharp pictures with lesser strain on the processor making it work faster.

S7:

Good news for users demanding heavy duty battery which is upgraded to 3000 mAHas compared to 2550 mAH battery of S6, this feature is something really big for critics who slams Samsung for not having good history of battery life, S7 also has the plus point of wireless charging which makes us saying goodbye to all the wires and typical chargers stuff era.

S7 Edge:

S7 edge is on the winning side if we talk about the battery life because it has 3600 mAH battery which makes it battery life longer and allow us to use it for relatively lengthy sessions without charging it more frequently.

Since one year most of the Samsung users were not really satisfied with only internal storage for not having micro SD slot, S7 has built in memory of 32 GB and 64 GB while S7 Edge has internal memory of 64 GB and both have micro SD card slotin sim card tray expandable to 200 GB which may please the storage thirsty consumers.

·       Gaming

Good news for dedicated gamers as the exclusive gaming mode blocks the notifications which allows gamers to play on focused for longer periods of time without any distraction, the gear VR adds on desired realistic 3-D environment for gamers which is really addictive.

S7 and S7 Edge are loaded with the latest android marshmallow giving you the power to make more use of it faster withOcta-core processor of 2300 MHz, Exynos M1 and ARM Cortex- A53, 64-bit and system memory of 4096 MB RAM which makes it work faster and in more efficient manner.

New and common thing about both phones is that they have brighter displays than previous models, Always On Display is new feature added to both phones but still they have minor differences due to screen size, S7 has 72.1 % screen-to-body ratio and S7 Edge has 76.1% screen-to-body ratio, S7 has ~577 ppi pixel density while S7 Edge has~534 ppi pixel density.
