Camera-Centric Asus Zenfone Zoom Detailed Preview

Asus announced their camera-centric smartphone in CES 2015 but at that time the handset was packed in glass cover and not ready for launching. In IFA which was passed in Berlin, the company again confirms the existence of the handset and now finally the mobile phone is ready to hit the markets soon. Here we are going to see in details that what this camera focusing smartphone bring for the users.

 

The handset is the beautiful combination of metal and plastic. The overall device is made off with the shiny plastic and the metal rim gives the premium look to the handset. The mobile phone measures 158.9 x 78.8 x 12 mm in dimensions and carries 185 grams of weight. The volume keys and power buttons are placed at the right side of the device there are two more buttons also present in the same side a camera shutter button and video recording button.

Most of the specs of this device are identical and similar with ZenFone 2 which was released in January. The Asus ZenFone Zoom has 5.5 inches display with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution. The handset screen is protected with Gorilla Glass 3. The overall performance of the display is good and the size and weight of the handset are ideal and easy to carry without feeling the burden.


This is the Android Phone and runs lollipop version of the operating system which will be replaced in future with Marshmallow version. The device is packed with 2.3 GHz Quad Core Processor paired with Intel Atom Z3580 chipset which is 64 bit and PowerVR G6430 GPU for the better graphical experience. The Asus ZenFone Zoom has two RAM options 2GB and 4 GB and has four internal memory options; 16/ 32/64 and 128 GB. Users have the open choice to select the combination of internal memory and RAM according to their requirement.  They all support external memory up to 64 GB via microSD card.


As the name suggest this is the camera focus device and for meeting the current trend the camera should be powerful and efficient and for this Asus took the wise step and placed the well-balanced camera pair inside the device.  Asus ZenFone Zoom has 13 MP rear camera with 3X optical zoom, laser autofocus and optical image stabilization which gives the great experience of photography to the users. There is a 10 element lens is also present in the handset which allow the users to capture 12x zoom image. Asus claimed that the camera of ZenFone Zoom also gives the DSLR experience which is able to shoot 52MP along with manual mode for quick adjustment of shutter speed, exposure, and many other basic settings. Besides this powerful rear camera, the device has 5 MP camera for taking the quality selfies.


The handset is big and slim as well and Asus feel proud that how they manage the big camera in the thin smartphone. The handset is energized with the 3000mAh non-removable battery which gives the sufficient backup to the users and keeps the handset on for a long while. There is no results of battery testing are coming out, but there is a general guess that the battery is enough for the whole day in mix use.
