Oppo Plans to Debut 130 to 140 Million Devices in 2017

Chinese Smartphone maker Oppo plans to dispatch 130-140 million smartphone worldwide in 2017. According to sources from Taiwan's handset supply chain, the company targeted to ship 100 million devices in 2016.

Huawei is a leading smartphone manufacturer in China, while Oppo is the second-largest smartphone retailer in the country. Some other Chinese manufacturers such as Lenovo, Xiaomi, Coolpad, and ZTE come after Oppo.


Oppo is pulling in more orders from its major component supplier due to its high shipment target. Its suppliers include display suppliers Truly Opto-Electronics and Japan Display, smartphone solution vendors MediaTek and Qualcomm, and wireless device maker Speed Wireless Technology.


However, Oppo is facing strong competition from the China’s market leader Huawei so the company seems to boost its penetration into high-end devices. While, lately launched Oppo devices such as the Oppo R9 family was warmly welcomed by people.  


Recently, Huawei declared that it has partnered with Leica to set up a new research center-the Max Berek Innovation Lab, which will push its photography technology forward. After 5 months of release of Huawei P9, the new research lab came into existence.


In terms of Specifications, the Oppo R9 Plus features 6.0 inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolutions. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop and powered by Qualcomm MSM8976 Snapdragon 652. The smartphone has 64/128 GB native storage with 4 GB of RAM. The Oppo R9 houses 16MP rear camera and 16MP secondary camera. The Dual SIM device is with a 4120 mAh battery and comes in Gold color options.
