Sony aims to Set up a Manufacturing Plant in India

On Thursday, Sony India states that the company plans to set up its own manufacturing plant in India. The plant is still is discussion and nothing tangible has appeared so far.

Sony India, Managing Director, said that "Don't deny any possibility. Still in discussion for opportunities in the future to expand manufacturing, but nothing concrete," he also said that "We are talking more seriously about what we can do in India."


Sony has already started assembling media products and TVs in India with a local associate. The company started to manufacture some products in India again after a decade.


Sony Spoke person said that it has own manufacturing facility in Japan, Malaysia, and China. It also has a software development house in India with 1500 workforce. The company wants to boost its sale up to 30 percent during August to November month. In this duration Sony pushed Rs. 150 crores for campaign and merchandising.


Hibi stated. “We are targeting 30 % boom all through the four months between August and November in India towards 20 p.c remaining yr.”  However, the company refused to reveal sale digits.  Sony is unsuccessful in boosting sales of its smartphones so the company wants to enhance its sales via other sources.  Now the company aims to launch devices within $300-$350 price range to remain in the premium segment and increase its sales.


Moreover, Sony launched Xperia XZ and Xperia X compact at IFA in Berlin. Both devices resemble to latest Xperia X series and they share features as well.
