WhatsApp Adds GIF and Video Streaming Feature for Android

WhatsApp has added two new features for its Android users; these features include GIF and video streaming. These two features were previously component of the Android beta app, and it has now been rolled out to the major application as well.

Now users don’t have to wait for downloading a video because the video streaming feature will permit users to watch a video as it streams.  Users can stream a video without downloading it because WhatsApp has replaced the download button with a play button. Billions of users use this app, so connectivity remains an issue in different countries, so the feature to stream a video as it buffer will be very much valued globally.

The GIF feature isn’t new because it has already available in Facebook’s Messenger, and Google Duo. People who are running an older version of Android can’t get benefit from this update, because these two features are for Android 4.1 users and above, and consumers will need to use the latest app in order to use these features. Miserably, the feature is available for only Android users for now and there is no information about when these features will roll out in iOS and Windows devices.

By the end of the 2016, WhatsApp will end its support to smartphones running on older version of Android, iOS, and Windows 7. People who are using Windows Phone 7, Android 2.1 and Android 2.2, or the iPhone 3GS will have to buy the new device.
