Design And Display

Microsoft has created Surface Pro tablets and deserves credit for their product. Surface Pro 3 is thinner and lighter than the earlier models and more so by extending the screen from 10. 6 to 12 inches with a more graceful look than Surface Pro and Surface Pro 2. Surface Pro 3 has a fine look and better feel; with the same magnesium-alloy design and beveled edges and a gap along the border of the tablet to move hot air out of the tablet.

Surface Pro 3's display is not only larger than the previous surface tablets but has also higher resolution  2160 x 1440 as compare to 1920 x 1080 Surface Pro 2 but lower than the other competitors i.e. iPad Air (9.7 inches, 2048 x 1536), Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 (12.2 inches, 2560 x 1600) with higher pixel densities.

In case of Microsoft Surface Pro 3 the Windows button has moved to shorter size while on the Pro 2, it was on the bottom edge of outer border.

Software

The Surface Pro 3 comes with Microsoft Windows 8.1 operating system having lot more, improvements over Windows 8. Microsoft windows 8.1 is companies own develop operating system therefore supports all Microsoft applications and provide the complete easy and fun full interface to the users instead of the boring startup windows.

Processor and Memory

Surface 3 has 1.9-GHz Intel Core i5-4300U processor, 8GB of RAM and 256GB SSD capable of strong performance, whatever task you are performing. By comparison, with other competitors it scored much higher rating thereby proving its superiority on others. The surface Pro 3's 256GB SSD was able to work fast and start the Windows 8.1 in 17 seconds, which is about 5 seconds faster than the average time of windows startup.  Surface Pro 3's has good display with high resolution; the integrated Intel HD Graphics GPU is not as efficient as we could be thinking in our mind.

Cameras

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 has the two cameras each with 5 MP sensors fairly efficient but cannot be categorized excellent. Rear camera captured the pink and purple colors of flowers sharp and clear but white or lighter colors were faded and images were not clear.

Microsoft Surface Pro built-in camera app is not really very satisfactory, and you have no choice in selecting the resolution or specific point on the object to be photographed.

Battery

While assessing the battery  on Laptop Battery Test the Surface Pro 3 gave 7 hours and 27 minutes surfing time. It is comparatively less by 15 minutes than ultraportable laptop average which is 7:45 and 30 minutes less than the tablet average of 8:02. Overall it is not a bad average and gives sufficient time to the user to enjoy the tablet.

Bottom Line

The Surface Pro 3 has plus point; it has 12 inches display with high resolution, thinner and lighter than previous versions, A keyboard is best-in-class example. You can use a digital pen also. However the low cost model does not have a real good keyboard and there is no place to place the pen on the body when not in use is going to be a good tablet but shall not be replacing the laptop.
