HTC starts rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop update to its HTC ONE M8 flagship and later One M7 will be updated. It will be on a time schedule to be announced by the company.
HTC has delivered and sold more Android based smartphones than Samsung has but despite that has lost some market share and profitability. Probably it was caused by adopting Apple play book and concentrating on design to give it a premium look with some costly material when it produce One M7 in February 2013. The copy material was anodize aluminum unibody and curved back that of course improve the look but increase the cost and the handset became fairly popular in the market and benefited the company.
With introduction of HTC ONE M8 company further improve the design taking the good feature of HTC ONE M7, and One M8 became the most popular handset in the market.
Now HTC has started a program of updating its handsets, HTC ONE M8 and HTC One M7 on a time schedule. If you own one of these handsets and are waiting for the update of Android 5.0 Lollipop, we have to wait and see the company plan about this action.
Presently HTC One E8, Desire Eye, One M8 Eye and Butterfly 2 are scheduled to receive Android 5.0 updates in next month, February 2015. Later in March HTC One Max phablet, HTC One M7 Dual-Sim, Desire 816, Desire 820u, One M8 Mini, One E8 (China), and One M8 Eye (China) will get updates of Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Still later in April HTC Desire 610, Desire 820s, Desire 510, and original HTC One Mini will be updated with Android 5.0 Lollipop.
All this schedule has been known through the leaks because the company has said nothing about them officially.
