Android Nougat update brings out the FHD display on Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge

The announcement of update from Android on Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge devices was a pleasant surprised its users. Android 7.0 Nougat brings about many useful features on the devices, unlocking its full potential which is very noticeable after the Marshmallow platform. Of the more impressive features unlocked, our eye caught onto the default Full HD display setting after the update.

The default setting was set to a native QHD resolution (1560 x 2560). After the Nougat update, the device’s resolution changes to FHD (1080 x 1920). With this shift, Samsung had aimed to give the user more control over the device by altering the standby times. This feature is not permanent and can be manually reverted to the QHD easily.

Android Nougat allows the device to switch between display resolutions. There are 3 modes the user can select: HD(720 x 1280), FHD(1080 x 1920) and QHD(1560 x 2560). The selection gives the user control on prioritizing display quality over battery life. For times where the full capacity of the Samsung’s AMOLED panel is not required, switching to a lower resolution will boost the battery time of the device significantly. And when power saving is not a concern, QHD can be enabled so you can enjoy the sharp crisp images that high quality media require.

To manually change your device’s display resolution, follow the steps

Go to Settings. From the menu, select Display and choose the Resolution option. Note that each time you change the setting, the device needs to be restarted to apply the new settings.
