Apple Negotiates with Sharp Corporation to Supply OLED Panels for iPhone 8

According to a person familiar with the matter, Apple is in talks with Sharp Corporation to acquire OLED panels for the next generation iPhone 8.  The person said that, any supply deal for natural OLED displays, would hinge on the Osaka-based firm’s production ability.

On Friday, Sharp Corporation declared that it aims to invest ¥57.4 billion ($566 million) in the manufacturing of Organic Light Emitting Displays manufacture amenities.  The company said in a statement that the finance will be used for tools in Sharp’s factories in Mie and Osaka region, and to transport samples to customers.  


Amir Anvarzadeh, Singapore-based head of Japanese equity sales at BGC Partners Inc said that, “Apple has illegally or as a dip confident sharp to go into it.” Apple’s strategy behind using OLED is to boost the rivalry on the supply side, and dilute the risk experience to one company.”


The spokeperson refused to comment on specific customers. According to manufacturer part of the plan, Sharp’s capital investment in OLED are part of ¥200 billion the producer has already devoted to OLED technology. The next generation iPhone will come with OLED technology, which is more vibrant and less battery drain. According to a report, Apple has already started working on iPhone 8 so we expect that the device will come with admireable features and changes. 


Hideki Yasuda, An analyst at Ace Research Institute in Tokyo, stated that “This investment is in retort to what Apple is doing. Production will not probably start waiting the next half of 2018, so the crash to profit won’t be until after that.”


The company agreed to acknowledge a salvage package from Foxconn Technology Group, ending a conquest fight that span four years.
