Amazon phone has been officially announced in the UK with the name “Yota Phone 2” having dual display; 5 inches AMOLED 1080 pixels front display and 4.7 inches at the back which is the made of e-paper. This smartphone will be available from today onwards in the UK, though no price and other details known.
The rear screen has QHD 540x960 pixels with 235ppi density is always on screen whereas the front screen is lighted on required basis. The display of rear screen is at 16 level of gray but is not known whether it is LCD based e-paper or Kindle-like-e-ink. The wonderful thing about both the screens is they are Gorilla Glass 3 protected.
The rear screen can be customized for text reading at very low power consumption as well as with widgets. It is supposed the device is from Amazon, should be supporting the software for e-books and probably Amazon's and B&N's apps will work. The smartphone runs KitKat version of operating system with Snapdragon 800 system on chip and has power of 2GB RAM with 32 GB on board memory which cannot be extended. The smartphone also have 8 mega pixel main camera and 2.1 mega pixel front facing camera and energized with 2500mAh battery which supports wireless charging as well.
Pre orders can be booked on Yotaphone 2 home page whereas delivery is on first come first serve. However now pricing information is available at present, the smartphone will not be available in the USA.
