Data transfer tech has been progressively evolving over these few months, from the start of USB 2.0 in 2000 to USB 3.0 in 2008 and now with the latest advent of USB type C ports that allow a huge volume of transfer within a matter of seconds. Sony has realized the true potential of this technology and decided to integrate it into its product.
The most recent announcement was the confirmed release of a new Type-C charging dock. The device is a sleek looking powerhouse with trademarks of Sony electronics all over it. The new Sony DK60 will be available in the markets by February 2017 and will be sold for $49.
The initial reveal was made along with the revealing of portable type C chargers with the Xperia X Compact and Xperia XZ back in 15th September 2016.
The new docks will charge the latest supported devices (Xperia X Compact/ Xperia XZ) without cables. For now, the DK60 will only be available in black color.
The dock weighs around only 27 grams and measures around 39 x 21.5 x 71 mm.
Optimal temperature ranges from 0 degrees to 35 degrees Celsius.
Works on an input of DC 5.0 - 12.0V 3A and output of DC 5.0 - 12V 3A.
Kit contents include charging dock attachment x 3 and a startup guide.
