Sony Confirms Only Premium Xperia Devices will be sold in India

Sony India seems to alter India strategy; the manufacturer has confirmed to TOI Tech that it would only trade 'premium' Xperia devices in India. The confirmation of this news came from Sony’s India head of Xperia business Vijay Singh.

Jaswal says, "Sony Mobile troop revolution in FY15 towards a gainful and sustainable corporation worldwide counting the areas mentioned. As part of our alteration, we are sharpening our spotlight on selected products and sales channels,"

Last month some reports informed that Sony will defocus on some markets containing Brazil, USA, China, and India. The firm is altering its strategy and it will offer only premium devices in the smartphone market. The move will further improve Sony’s presence in the market, said by Jaswal. Because of the Sony’s premium strategy in India, the regular promotion worth has climbed by 55% in Q1 of 2016 as compared to the same period of 2015, added by Jaswal.

The company aspires to launch high-end devices for customers in India, which will increase the company’s market share.  The mobile maker is also planning to offer its devices in forthcoming festive season with special offers. However, the report isn’t confirmed by the Japanese tech giant yet, but one thing is confirmed that the decision is made to ensure better profitability.

In past few years, the company has tried diverse strategies in the oversaturated smartphone market. As per previous strategy Sony launched its smartphones once in a year, but according to the novel strategy, it will release devices once in six months. At MWC 2016, the company announced that its Z series will be replaced by X series.
