Xiaomi Mi 5 Powered by Snapdragon 820 Launched at MWC 2016

A Beijing event Xiaomi unveiled Mi 4S and now the company launched its much awaited smartphone Mi 5 at the same event. The Xiaomi Mi 5 will be available in three variants such as the standard edition, high version, and exclusive edition.

The dual SIM Xiaomi Mi 5 packs a 5.15-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) with a pixel density of 428ppi and curved 3D Ceramic glass. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor coupled with Adreno 530 GPU. It has a 16-megapixel Sony IMX298 camera sensor with 4-axis OIS (optical image stabilization), LED flash, sapphire glass protection lens, and PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus). The camera sports 4K video recording and 4MP secondary camera.


To keep the device on 3000mAh battery is used and it supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. Xiaomi claims that the Quick Charge 3.0 is 20 percent faster than its antecedent, also a USB Type-C comes along. Connectivity options consist of Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/ac, 4G, Bluetooth 4.2, Glonass, and NFC. It also has a home button on the front side.

 

At the time of launch Xiaomi compared its Mi 5 with iPhone 6s and claimed that the new device is 14 grams lighter than 5.5” iPhone 6s. The company also compared flat camera sensor of Xiaomi Mi 5 with the bump camera of Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6s. The company also explained the manufacturing process of the device.


The Xiaomi Mi 5 standard version will come with  32GB inbuilt storage and 3GB RAM, high version will have 64GB storage and 3GB LPDD4 RAM, while the exclusive edition will feature 128GB storage along with 4GB LPDD4 RAM.


Three versions are priced according to their specifications such as standard version is priced at CNY 1,999, high edition is priced at CNY 2,299, and exclusive edition will be available in CNY 2,999.
