Users already have Motorola Droid Maxx and Droid Turbo 2 which was revealed last year and now company extended their Droid portfolio by adding two modest versions of the handsets with the names Droid Maxx 2 and Droid Turbo 2. Both devices come with well-balanced features and available at the reasonable cost. These two handsets recently launched in the USA and specially designed for Verizon. Here we are describing both smartphones in details.
Design and Display
Droid Maxx 2 and Droid Turbo 2 belong to the modest era and they should offer the convenient and appealing design and for this Motorola selects flat design which is totally different from the previous ones. They both have minor differences in their weight and dimensions. The Droid Maxx 2 measures 10.9 mm in thickness and weighs 169 grams and the Droid Turbo 2 is 9.2 mm in dimension and 170 grams in weight.
Now the display comes the Droid Maxx 2 is slightly larger in size and has 5.5 inches display with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution and the Droid Turbo 2 has 5.4 inches screen. The main difference between them is the Droid Maxx 2 is protected with Gorilla Glass 3 but in the case of Droid Turbo 2 Motorola introduced new innovation called “Shatter Proof Display” which is stronger than Gorilla Glass 3. The Shatter-Shield is based on 5 protective layers and each layer provides the different protection to the main display and enhances the life of the screen. The outer layer has a very hard coating in order to protect against dents and scratch marks or even abrasion over long usage time. Under this protective layer, there is an interior lens which again is a protective measure and highly transparent and would not allow the shield to break.
The third layer is dual touch layer present under the lens. It is a protective measure and precautionary spare provision for touch screen performance if the primary screen is damaged the secondary touch sensitive layer should perform the same functions.
The fourth layer is a flexible 5.4-inch AMOLED quad HD display which resists against shocks because of its absorbent ability and also providing excellent and vivid display quality and provides the clear visibility in all types of light conditions. The fifth and last layer of the smartphone is its inflexible aluminum chassis that provides strength and integrity to house the entire mechanism of Shatter-Shield technology.
But one thing is lacking in Droid Turbo 2 and that is an IP52 certificate which Droid Maxx 2 has. The Droid Maxx 2 has Water repellant nano-coating which protects the device from moisture and splashes.
OS, Processor, and Memory
They both are Android Smartphone and runs Lollipop version which will be updated soon with Marshmallow. The Droid Turbo 2 is packed with Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & Quad-core 2 GHz Cortex-A57 processor paired with Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 chipset and Adreno 430 GPU and the Droid Maxx 2 has Quad-core 1.7 GHz Cortex-A53 & quad-core 1.0 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU combined with Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 chipset and Adreno 405 GPU. The Droid Turbo 2 has 3 GB RAM and two internal memory option 32 GB and 64 GB and the Maxx 2 has 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal memory. The Droid Turbo 2 supports 200 GB external memory and the Maxx 2 has 128 GB external memory capacity.
There is nothing special in camera. They both have the same camera with same features. They have 13 MP rear camera with dual LED, Auto Focus and touch focus and have 5 MP selfies shooter.
Battery and Turbo Charging
They both have different batteries. Droid Maxx 2 has 3630mAh battery which is nonremovable on the contrary the Droid Turbo 2 in energized with the 3760mAh battery which is removable. The Droid Turbo 2 power source provides 360 hours standby time on 3G and 48 hours talk time on 3G and the Droid Maxx 2 gives 576 hours standby time and 48 hours talk time on 3G. They both have the rapid charging feature known as Turbo Charging which allow the users to charge 13 hours battery in just 15 minutes. The Droid Turbo 2 is also Qi-enabled means the device supports the wireless charging as well which is lacking in Maxx 2.
