Today, Samsung has unveiled its brand new camera sensor, the ISOCELL GN2. This is the follow-up to the ISOCELL GN1, which was announced back in May 2020. The ISOCELL GN2 is also a 50MP image sensor, just like its predecessor, and arrives with some improvements to take the camera game to the next level. This 50MP sensor brings faster autofocus and improved HDR performance.

The new ISOCELL GN2 camera from Samsung features a 50MP image sensor and has Smart ISO Pro to provide better results in low light conditions. It supports 4-in-1 pixel binning (with 2.8μm pixels) to offer impressive performance in low-light conditions. The new camera sensor also has the ability to use its intelligent re-mosaic algorithm to capture three 50MP frames (red, green, and blue) and create a 100MP image for higher details.

Samsung is also introducing its new autofocus technology called Dual Pixel Pro for the first time with the ISOCELL GN2. The Dual Pixel Pro technology on the Samsung ISOCELL GN2 sensor provides accurate and fast auto-focusing, Samsung claims. Dual Pixel Pro enables improved low-light focusing and tracking of moving objects as well, as every pixel of the sensor works as focusing agents. The ISOCELL GN2 also has staggered-HDR and Smart ISO support. It can also record Full HD videos at up to 480fps and 4K videos at up to 120fps.
