Motorola RAZR 2019 hands-on review

Many years ago, Motorola had unveiled a landmark flip phone “Motorola Razr V3.” After Fifteen years, the company has unveiled another new flip phone with modern hardware and foldable OLED inside. Yeah sure, we are talking about Motorola RAZR 2019, which has arrived this month at an event in Los Angeles. The new foldable phone has Noir Black color option, and it offers 6GB of RAM and 128GB native storage. The Motorola RAZR 2019 costs a $1,400 price tag, and it will be available for pre-orders on December 26, and the shipment will begin on January 9.

Motorola RAZR 2019 design, specs and features

The predecessor RAZR V3 weighed just 95 grams while the new RAZR 2019 has heavier 205 grams weight. In terms of dimension, it measures 172 x 72 x 6.9 mm (unfolded), and in the folded condition, it measures 94 x 72 x 14mm. The crucial part is the screen, and the device has two of those. When folded, it offers 2.7 inches OLED screen that can support up to 800 x 600 pixels at 370 PPI density. You can use this screen to attend calls, read messages and emails. The Motorola RAZR 2019 has 6.2 inches OLED display with 876 x 2142 pixels. This primary screen offers a 70.2% screen-to-body ratio and 373 PPI density. The back of the phone, which houses the camera, is covered with glass, while the other non-functional part is all metal with a grippy dotted pattern and the Motorola’s M logo. For authentication, Motorola RAZR 2019 offers front-mounted fingerprint reader.

The Motorola RAZR 2019 has a wide notch at the top for the earpiece and the 5MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture for taking selfies and video calls, and you can also use the primary camera for better selfie experience in folded condition. The phone has a dual-camera setup on the back panel, which includes a 16MP primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture and a 3D TOF camera. Along with dual pixel PDAF and 1.22um pixels, the primary sensor provides sharp and pretty images. You can use the 3D TOF cam for capturing beautiful photos with better portrait mode experience. One interesting thing, the Motorola RAZR 2019 can record 4K videos and FHD videos at 30fps. Under the hood, it draws power from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC and paired with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB onboard storage option. Unfortunately, there is no option for a microSD card slot. The Snapdragon 710 Chipset has constructed on a 10nm Octa-core processor and which packs 2x2.2 GHz 360 Gold and 6x1.7 GHz Kryo 360 Silver. The new flip phone runs Android 9 Pie OS, and it offers Adreno 616 GPU. The Motorola RAZR 2019 has a 2510 mAh battery capacity that can support up to 15W for quick charging.
