Introduction

Realme held its biggest launch event today in India to announce the Realme 6 and Realme 6 Pro smartphones. The event also used to unveil the Realme Band as the company’s first-ever fitness tracker. At the event, the company confirmed that the Realme 6 is not the successor of the Realme 5 phone, but it has arrived as the successor for the Realme 5 Pro. While the Realme 6 Pro arrives as the successor of the Realme X phone, which was announced last year. Realme claims that the “Realme 6 Pro is also the first smartphone in the country that supports Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC), developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).” According to the company, the Realme 6 Pro will be available for purchase starting 12 pm (noon) IST on March 13, while the standard variant (Realme 6) will go on sale starting 12 pm (noon) IST on March 11.

Realme 6 and Realme 6 Pro design and display

The screen of the Realme 6 has a single punch-hole, whereas the Realme 6 Pro’s display has a pill-shaped punch-hole for housing dual front-facing cameras. The Realme 6 phones are equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint reader. A far as the appearance of the Realme 6 is concerned, the brand claims that it flaunts a comet inspired design built with an optical plating process. The design of the Realme 6 Pro is inspired by thunder and lightning and is manufactured with a gradient offset printing process. Gorilla Glass 5 protects the display of both phones. The rear shell of the Pro model also features the same reinforced glass. Also, these phones come with splash-resistant chassis. On the back panels, both handsets have vertically shaped quad camera setup. In terms of dimension, Realme 6 measures 162.1 x 74.8 x 8.9 mm, while 6 Pro measures 163.9 x 75.8 x 9.4 mm.

Let’s talk about the display of both devices; the Realme 6 has a 6.5-inch full-HD+ (1080x2400 pixels) Ultra Smooth display with 90Hz refresh rate, 20:9 aspect ratio, and 90.5 percent screen-to-body ratio. On the other hand, the Pro model houses a 6.6-inch full-HD+ (1080x2400 pixels) Ultra Smooth display with 90Hz refresh rate, 20:9 aspect ratio, and 90.6 percent screen-to-body ratio. Both smartphones provide up to 480 nits maximum brightness and 120Hz touch-sensing rate.

Realme 6 and 6 Pro front and rear cameras

Realme 6 has a 16-megapixel camera with an f/2.0 aperture on the front for selfie experience. The back-side of the Realme 6 has a quad-camera setup, which includes a 64-megapixel Samsung GW1 primary shooter, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, a 2-megapixel B&W portrait lens, and a 2-megapixel macro lens. The rear cameras support UIS Max video stabilization. The primary sensor of the handset sports f/1.8 aperture, and you can record Full HD videos at 30/60/120fps.

The Realme 6 Pro houses a dual-camera setup on the front. It consists of a Sony IMX471 16-megapixel primary lens along with an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens with a 105-degree field-of-view. The dual selfie cameras support ultrawide selfies and ultrawide video shooting. The front cameras on both phones support automatic HDR, AI Beauty, Portrait Mode, time-lapse, 120fps slow-motion video shooting, and Portrait Nightscape.

The back panel of the Realme 6 Pro offers a 64-megapixel Samsung GW1 primary shooter, a 119-degree ultrawide lens of 8-megapixel, a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with support for 2x optical zoom and 20x hybrid zoom and a 2-megapixel macro lens with 4cm focal length. The rear camera of the Realme 6 Pro arrives with Night Scape 3.0, which brings exciting features tripod mode with a super long exposure for night shots, ultra nightscape mode in extremely dark environments, and expert mode for capturing RAW photos. The rear cameras of Realme 6 Pro also support dual UIS video stabilization. The Pro model can record 4k videos at 30fps and Full HD videos at 30/60/120fps.

Software, battery, and processor

The Realme UI based Android 10 OS comes preloaded on the Realme 6 and Realme 6 Pro smartphones. The Realme 6 and 6 Pro both pack 4,300mAh batteries that can be fully charged in just 60 minutes through the 30W fast charging technology. To control power consumption, smartphones can automatically switch between 60Hz and 90Hz refresh rates. The Realme 6 Pro comes with a superlinear speaker with Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res audio. The Realme 6 Pro also arrives with support for dual-band GPS frequency.

The Helio G90T gaming-centric processor from MediaTek is present under the hood of the Realme 6 whereas the Realme 6 Pro has arrived as the world’s first smartphone with the 8nm Snapdragon 720G mobile platform.

The Realme 6 series offer users with up to 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 2.1 storage. Connectivity options on the phones include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.1, GPS/ A-GPS, NavIC, and a USB Type-C port. Sensors onboard include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, magnetometer, and proximity sensor.
