Samsung Galaxy Watch3 Hands-on Review

Last Update 2020-08-06

Samsung Galaxy Watch3 has launched in two sizes, 4.1 mm and 4.5 mm. A rotating bezel and a faster software is what makes Galaxy Watch3 special. I selected 4.1 mm for my wrist, but a 4.5 mm unit is also in my review.

Galaxy Watch 3 Price, Pre-order and Release Date

Talking about 4.1 mm model, Galaxy Watch 3 LTE costs $449 while the Price of Samsung Watch3 LTE 4.5mm model is $479. The preorders have already started from August 6, and the actual release date for local markets (region dependent) is August 21.

Look

It seems Samsung tried to make a diversified clone of Apple Watch Series 4. The Galaxy Watch3 makes you feel premium and sporty. The watch is made of stainless steel and is compatible with 20mm straps. When I wore the Galaxy Watch3, the thinner and lighter device looks stylish. At least, Samsung Watch3 is better in looks than the dull-looking Watch Active series.

Ruggedness

Wearing the Galaxy Watch3, I can go out in the real world without any concern. There is a Corning Gorilla Glass DX on the front screen. My Samsung Watch3 is IP68 rated and I loved it to see withstanding up to 50 meters submersion. You cannot doubt toughness, thanks to Military Grade (MIL-STD-810G).

Navigation

The prettiest fact about Galaxy Watch3 is "Rotating Bezel". You can navigate the watch faces and apps through that rotating bezel. It feels similar to the dial-pad old phone, but I consider rotating the smartwatch is better than scrolling the tiny touchscreen. You can swipe on a 1.2-inch display for a 4.1 mm version and a 1.4-inch display for a 4.5mm variant. Super AMOLED display offers the best views.

Good luck is that every time you not required rotating bezel or swiping on the screen. There are two physical buttons on the side just like those traditional ones, and you can navigate the watch with them too.

Software

The fastest software I saw on a Galaxy watch. Samsung installed TizenOS 5.5 that is neat and clean. The menu system is circular, apps are labeled, and making selection and executing a task is quick and easy. Notifications are on top, and the pre-installed apps you can find by scrolling.

Sensors

Health is an important issue and Galaxy Watch3 helps you to monitor it. The Samsung smartwatch brings a Heart Rate sensor on its back, and you can measure heartbeats and also blood pressure as well as blood oxygen saturation with the help of Samsung Watch3. Everything managed on time, thanks to Exynos 9110 (10nm) administration. Galaxy Watch3 gets also ECG certification.

Storage

Never-ending for messages or notes or some media files. A smartwatch is if yet to expect store something, the Galaxy Watch3 is a good choice with 8GB internal memory. However, the predecessor Galaxy Watch had 4GB storage. The deal is not much better against Apple Watch coming with up to 16GB memory. You can end up with the installation of the necessary app, thanks to 1GB RAM.

Battery Life

A smartwatch is of no worth if it falls down quickly. Galaxy Watch3 promised a full day of connectivity with your smartphone. A 4.1 mm version houses a 247mAh battery, and a 4.5 mm edition gets the power from a 340mAh cell and lasts a bit longer. The Samsung Watch3 allows Qi Wireless Charging.

Others

Bluetooth and GPS are now integral parts of connectivity. The Galaxy Watch3 comes in WiFi and LTE models. You can buy Watch3 4.1 mm model in Mystic Bronze and Mystic Silver. However, the Galaxy Watch3 4.5 mm version is available in Mystic Black and Mystic Silver.
