Samsung Galaxy M30 Hands-on Review

Last Update 2019-03-08

Samsung’s Galaxy M30 looks pretty good in the first impression with Infinity U Display and Triple Rear Cams. The Galaxy M smartphone promotes selfie notch trend in a budget-friendly segment. Currently, it is listed with enchanting specs sheet for purchase at Amazon India. So let’s see what it brought for buyers.

Elegant Design that is borrowed from Galaxy M20 but Super AMOLED Display

Galaxy M30 is a bit different from its predecessor in terms of design. The front occupied a large 19.5:9 flat screen where a U-shaped notch installed on top and also there is a slightly wider bottom chin. Camera setup is again oriented vertically, three lenses with a LED below. Fingerprint Sensor didn’t leave its home on rear even the same Oblong shape. All in all Samsung M line is tracking footsteps of precursor Galaxy M10 for mitosis.

Samsung decided to take Galaxy M series ahead; therefore, M30 carried a 6.4inches Super AMOLED Display instead PLS TFT of M20 to give sharper contrast and better dynamic color range for an immersive view. The device calculates 1080x2280 pixels dimension and 394 PPI Density giving a negligible dim screen than M20’s 409 PPI display. Widevine L1 certified we can watch Netflix movies whether in or out of the lab. Dolby Atmos produces pleasing sound for listening to music.

You’re safe and sound when using M30 which has 0.409 W/Kg SAR value to ensure low radiation emission.

Experience 10 User Interface and advanced Android Pie OS

Samsung skipped new One UI for Galaxy M30 smartphone, and now it is running Experience 10 out of the box. It is designed to appreciate the night mode experience. The latest platform Android 9.0 (Pie) facilitates consumers with fresh security updates and optimized software performance. Themes are refreshed and a user will feel better than Experience 9 and Android Oreo of M20.

Camera that offers Wide-angle, Ultrawide and Live Focus Vision

Everyone desires exceptional photography and that’s the Samsung M30 wants to deliver its clients. Powered by AI, there are triple eyes at the back. The main photography lens is 13MP wide-angle with f/1.9 aperture, second is 5MP ultrawide optics with 123° view and third is 5MP with f/2.2 aperture and live focus for portrait mode and manual bokeh control.

Pictures were taken with Galaxy M30 offering clear sharp results but AI makes it feels sometimes oversaturated for a wide-angle sensor. Ultrawide Cam performs well and locks extra field of view for landscape images. The third sensor did a good job of blurred-background photos. We can adjust unblur after capturing shots and it’s a nice advancement to the camera interface.

Camera allows 4k video recording and FHD streams at 30fps.

We love Samsung M30 for splendid 16MP selfies. The front-facing f/2.0 aperture camera supports HDR mode to facilitate user with brilliant daylight images. No LED flash on display resulted that low-light pictures are not as superb as that of rear camera night mode performance. However, Galaxy M30 doubles the selfie output than 8MP selfie of M20.

Face Unlock is available, since not 3D recognition system, so it can be fooled with a 2D image of your face. But, customers can get it On behalf of fast and reliable Fingerprint Sensor.

Performance and AnTuTu score

Samsung Galaxy M30 gives equivalent performance to the M20 as they having the same internal specs. Exynos 7904 is embedded inside along with a 14nm Octa-core cortex-a7 processor of up to 1.8GHz frequency and 6GB LRDDR4X RAM to play heavy games like PUBG for which the sufficient graphics are produced via Mali-G71 GPU. The handset has 128GB personal storage and a microSD slot capable of a 512GB card for massive records. Another option is also available, 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM. AnTuTu v7 gave 107,400 scores for M30’s overall performance and it showed the Samsung smartphone is 83% better than other average mid-range devices.

Battery that lasts longer

A Li-Po 5000mAh Battery is there extracting more juice to beat clock’s pendulum for a complete 24 hours. We enjoyed 105 hours of music, 25 hours of video playback, and 31 hours of talk time. It is backed by a non-removable cover and 15W Fast Charge supported. The M30 takes 1 hour and 30 minutes to recharge fully. USB Type C makes reverse charging and data syncing easier.
