Introduction
Microsoft is the giant and they are well known in the field of software making as well as the computing devices. After fetching the Lumia title from Nokia they promote the Lumia device with their own tag and they launched many Lumia devices which belong to the mid-range category. In the recent past, they made the appearance in MWC 2015, however, that was not the big bump, but the presented thing was not negligible. They launched two mid-range devices in the event named Lumia 640 and the larger version of the same handset called Lumia 640 XL they both are the mid-ranger and users will get the stylish smartphone at a reasonable price. Design and Display
Microsoft Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL follow the same design pattern and there is no change found in the previous Lumia devices. Like the previous devices both the handsets are made up of the shiny glossy plastic. However, the plastic is not near to the metal but the finishing of the handsets is not bad and equally good like metal frame. Both the handsets have slightly different measures because of the screen size. The Lumia 640 measures 141.3 x 72.2 x 8.8 mm and has 145 grams of weight and the larger Lumia 640 XL measures 157.9 x 81.5 x 9 mm and has 171 grams of weight. They both supports the dual micro SIMs and easy to hold and manage from single hand.
As the name of the smartphones suggest that the screen sizes of both are changed. Lumia 640 is the regular version and Lumia 640 XL is the large one. The regular Lumia 640 is come with 5.0 inches display and has 720 x 1280 pixels resolution and delivers 294 ppi pixel density and the bigger Lumia 640 XL has 5.7 inches display with the same pixels resolution but the provided density were changed and the large one gives 259 ppi pixel density. Besides the size and the ppi density there are no changes present in both and they both have IPS LCD capacitive touch screen and the screens are protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and ClearBlack which improve the display result and increase the endurance of the mobile.
Operating system and Interface
They both are the windows phone and runs Microsoft Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim as default operating system. The windows provide all the necessary facility to the users to enjoy the handset to the maximum extent and keep them busy with their smartphones. The interface of the handsets are typical windows based and gives the same windows experience to the users as they already got in desktop. The operating system is easy to operate and hazel free interface is the best option for the users.
Processor and Memory
Best and fine hardware combination makes the perfect smartphones and manufacturers especially curious for the hardware selection for making the best device. Microsoft is the clever and good in progress so they chose a better option for their mid-ranger. Company placed Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 processor paired with Qualcomm MSM8926 Snapdragon 400 system on chip and has Adreno 305 for handling the graphical tasks. This is the perfect combination for any mid-range smartphone and gives the efficient performance to the users. Now the memory comes which is one of the main points of consideration. The company placed 1GB RAM and 8 GB ROM in both handsets. The ROM can be extended up to 128 GB externally via microSD card. According to the mid-price tribe, the handsets are well configured and give the maximum pleasure to the users for playing with their Lumia handset.
Camera
The second change after the screen is camera capacity. The regular version has regular, but powerful camera and the large one has the big size smart camera. Lumia 640 has 8 MP rear camera with 3264 x 2448 pixels, autofocus and LED flash for capturing the clear image and has 1 megapixel front facing camera for getting the basic selfies which are not so good but not very bad at all and the Lumia 640 XL has 13 MP rear camera with 4128 x 3096 pixels, Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus and LED flash to taking the high-end images and has 5 megapixel front facing camera for taking the well balanced selfies.
Battery
The 3rd change present in the power source of the smartphones. The large one needs a more power than the regular version. The Lumia 640 has Li-Ion 2500 mAh battery which is well enough for running the handset whole day. The battery gives Up to 840 h (2G) / Up to 840 h (3G) standby time to the mobile and Up to 27 h 30 min (2G) / Up to 20 h 30 min (3G) talk time to the users and the large Lumia 640 XL is energized by Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery which is quite powerful than 2500mAh. The large power source gives up to 936 h (2G) / Up to 936 h (3G) standby time to the handset and up to 31 h 20 min (2G) / Up to 23 h 40 min (3G) talk time to the users. The good thing is that the batteries are removable and users can replace the battery instead of complete handset if the battery gets affected.
Expectations
Users are expecting more from their love one and they already familiar with Microsoft so they need relaxation after buying the handset they need and Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL both are the mobiles gives them a relief because the handsets are in the budget of the consumers and they feel happy to use such type of handy handset available at a reasonable cost.
