Oppo Introduced first In-Display Camera and MeshTalk Walkie Talkie

Oppo has come with full preparation at Shanghai’s MWC event, starting today. There are two days left to close happening, but Oppo being a forerunner for smartphone technology unveiled all at once. The Chinese mobile brand invested a lot in R&D centers which bear fruit to the consumers now. It uncovered the world’s first true Under-Display Camera, which needs no notch or hole in the screen, rather it is hidden inside, and we achieved full vision display without any cutout.

Though the Oppo didn’t reveal any smartphone, the newer In-Display technology expected to debut soon alongside alleged upcoming Oppo flagship phone, the Find Y. As the rumors claimed the Find Y wouldn’t carry its precursor’s Sliding Selfie setup, therefore, Oppo may find another way to equip front camera without disturbing full viewing screen.

The Oppo spokesperson on stage has also described how the UD Camera will work. It is difficult for a lens to catch light from a non-transparent solid medium, so Oppo told its engineers would use customized display, and it would come in future mobiles. The display will allow light to pass through for the optical sensor.

To work, Oppo camera technology will take assist of three algorithms – White Balance, HDR and Haze Removal algorithm. Sadly, Oppo excused and warned the new UD Cam won’t capture best shots against the other flagships of 2019.

What is MeshTalk Walkie Talkie feature?

Another interesting innovation Oppo introduced is MeshTalk. It is the characteristic of an Oppo device of texting and calling other Oppo smartphones without any cellular, Bluetooth, WiFi or any other connection.

The MeshTalk creates a visual connection between the two Oppo mobiles within 3000 meters range. Either it’s urban or rural. One can engage with his local friend in a specific range without getting charged for calls and messages.

Oppo explained MeshTalk can be achieved by an integrating a special chipset - a hardware element, so only future Oppo mobile will able to do so.

We are keenly waiting for both of new Oppo technologies, and expect them to be present in Oppo high-end device for 2019.
