Body and Design

Oppo K1 is pretty cool look wise, the gradient back finishes, metal body coated with Gorilla Glass 5, stylish notch, full view display, 19.5:9 viewing aspect, 84% screen-to-body ratio, and dual cameras on the back. With a 2.5D curved design and symmetrical body, the one-handed smartphone has 154 grams of weight and 158.3 mm, 75.5 mm and 7.4 mm of height, breadth and thickness, respectively.

You can see a selfie lens in top-notch, a 3.5 mm jack, speaker grilles and micro USB port at the bottom. Two Volume rockers and a tray with Dual SIM slots and a dedicated microSD card space you find on the left while a Power Key on the right.

Fingerprint Sensor finds the new home, under the touchscreen. Despite offering more convenient to the user, the fingerprint slows down its working and you have to hold on the finger at scanner for a few seconds to access unlock.

Display and Software

Oppo K1 sports a 6.4inches capacitive screen that is perfect for either watching or browsing. Ops, we forgot to inform you about the amazing AMOLED Display technology which you don't find in most of the other middle-class phones. The resolution is 1080x2340 pixels providing you 402 ppi density for bright, vivid and vibrant views. The color saturation, contrast ratio, indoors and outdoors display performances are okay.

Don’t expect the latest version of Oppo mobile interface; there you get Android 8.1 (Oreo) that’s smooth but not cool at all like the Android Pie. The good news is Hyper Boost Technology built-in software for graphical gaming you desire. You may happy with ColorOS 5.2 after all it has some modern features e.g. Smart Side Bar, Smart Scan and ORoaming. The over polished apps of default interface is little aggressive, but you can get a perfect theme for you. Color Temperature and other configurations could be done through settings.

Performance and Memory

Oppo K1 is being powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 660 chipset that's taking it to the flagship level performance. The 14nm CPU and Octa-core processor with up to 2.0GHz clock rate ensures healthy performance and moderate battery consumption. The phone doesn’t catch warm after hours of playing thanks to the advanced cooling system. Luckily, you are getting 4GB RAM of DDR4 which is as much as 40% more efficient than DDR3. You won’t face any trouble while gaming or multi-tasking. The animations are good enough for you, thanks Adreno 512.

Oppo K1 is much better in performance than other average budget smartphones in the market. Let’s take the help of benchmarking reports and AnTuTu scores to calculate how much the Oppo K1 performance is superior.

Oppo K1 received 1436 scores for single-core and 5467 scores for multi-core efficiency, thanks to Geekbench marking. However, the AnTuTu awarded 140,000 scores for overall CPU performance.

Expand the memory up to 512GB with a microSD card, if you thought 64GB Storage is not sufficient for notes and other multimedia files.

Let’s continue our Oppo K1 quick review.

Dual Camera Photography

The camera really matters if you love photography. The Oppo mobile brings 16MP plus 2MP dual rear cameras where the first one gets f/1.8 wider aperture and the secondary measures f/2.4 aperture. Lower the aperture is, brighter the pictures are.

You can take very nice shots in the daylight as well as at night mode, and all the photographs are very fine. Edges look a bit aggressive while using Blurred Background mode, image corners not captured in details as they should be. HDR and AI Beauty modes are thankfully there to manage everything in your beautiful photographs.

There is annoying somewhat called shutter lag which irritates you while going to have multiple shots at once. The camera takes some time to focus and you have to wait a bit longer to lock further snaps.

Video Recording: Oppo smartphone allows you to record 4k videos at 30fps. Also, you can shoot the FHD standard movies.

25MP Selfie Camera Test

Oppo K1 is a selfie-centric phone, so why it prohibits to get a sharp 25MP Front Camera of f/2.0 aperture and Auto HDR support. You can trust the Oppo K1 for splendid selfies as it captures the real beauty and offers you to enjoy natural and artificial effects to bring you the excellent camera experience. Turn off HDR and create some nice photos under the sunlight, or turn on to make better low-light images. Nifty AI filters help you to make good camera adjustments, but you are allowed to control settings manually. There is only Bokeh mode we discovered a little frustrating, but the other everything is fine.

You can enjoy Full HD video calls, too.

Battery and Connectivity

You may not satisfy if the battery gets shut down quickly, therefore, Oppo K1 used to facilitate a non-removable Li-Ion 3600mAh battery. The handset runs up to 12 hours of fair mixed usage e.g. watching, browsing, gaming, and calling. Unfortunately, the smartphone supports only standard 10W charger, not the Fast Charging. Therefore, it takes 2 hours and 30 minutes to recharge fully from 0% to 100%. It is exactly what the most frustrating fact of Oppo K1.

The Oppo mobile supports Dual SIM networking, 3G and 4G LTE bands, delivering 300Mbps of downloads and 50Mbps uploading speed. The other options include USB on-the-go not the Type C, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and good loudspeakers for a sound blast.

Cost

Oppo K1 Price is only $230 for the standard 4GB RAM variant. The other model with 6GB RAM is available for $260.

Verdict

Oppo K1 is a striking smartphone with a premium look, extremely fine performance, amazing selfie results, and good day battery life, so we can say the Oppo K1 is not a bad deal if you are going to buy Mobile Phone under $300.
