Ahead of the Unpacked Event of 2021, Samsung today announced its latest flagship Exynos chipset at a virtual event. The latest Exynos SoC is based on the 5nm Extreme Ultra-Violet (EUV) process node and comes with an integrated 5G modem.
Like Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888, the Samsung Exynos 2100 SoC is built on a 5nm EUV process. It comes with tri-cluster architecture with one high-performance ARM Cortex X1 core running at 2.9 GHz, three Cortex A78 cores, and four efficiency-oriented Cortex A55 cores. Samsung claims the chipset provides up to 30% higher multi-core performance than its predecessor. Due to the 5nm EUV process technology, the chip consumes up to 20% lower power than its predecessor.

In terms of graphics performance, Samsung says the Exynos 2100 offers over 40% better performance compared to the Exynos 990. The Chip is equipped with ARM's latest Mali-G78 GPU and supports the latest Vulkan and OpenCL APIs. The Exynos 2100 also features an advanced ISP that supports up to 200MP cameras. It also has an integrated 5G modem with support for both sub-6GHz and mmWave spectrums. The modem supports maximum downlink speeds of up to 5.1Gbps in sub-6GHz and 7.35Gbps in mmWave. Samsung says the Exynos 2100 has a 3 core NPU, and with the combined improvements in CPU, GPU, DSP, and NPU, the Chipset achieves 26 TOPS performance. That matches the figure achieved by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 and is a significant jump from the 15 TOPS achieved by the Exynos 990.
