Sony Xperia XA1 and XA1 Plus getting Spectre and Meltdown fixes

As we reported in our previous news that the Intel and ARM processor based smartphones and other devices are affecting by Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities which cause to hack device. So, many brands have started pushing update with Spectre and Meltdown fixes. Sony has also begun providing a new update for Xperia XA1, XA1 Plus and Xperia E5 to protect device against Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities. The update is rolling out via OTA in the form of January security patches. The update comes with the build number 40.0.A.6.189, 48.0.A.1.131, and 37.0.A.2.248 respectively for Xperia XA1, XA1 Plus and Xperia E5.

It is a security patch so the Android OS will remain same. In addition, the update will take a bit long to download and it will fix Spectre and Meltdown bugs as well as other software security issues. If you’re an owner of Xperia XA1, XA1 Plus or Xperia E5 then keep patience because the update will take some time to reach your device. Soon, the other Sony smartphones will also get January Security Patches which will protect your device against malicious software.
