Design

Oneplus 5T is crafted with aluminum. The manufacturing style of smartphone body is so beautiful. The overall handset looks stunning, sleek and elegant. Its 7.3mm thickness gives a good impression. The gadget has 162 grams weight. Look at the front, a 6-inch bezel less screen covered with gorilla glass 5 to get rid from scratches. On the upper side of screen a selfie camera placed beside a speaker grille. Sorry the notification LED is missing. On the lower side of display, nothing is there except sensors which work as the home and back buttons. The top side is neat and clean while on the bottom a USB C port is implanted along with loudspeaker and 3.5mm audio socket. A power button placed on the right side with dual Nano-SIM tray slot. Coming to the left side, there is an alert slider and volume rocker.

The satin finished back of smartphone looks much pretty. A fingerprint scanner is mounted along the central axis where you can reach easily. The new home of security sensor makes it convenient to access fingerprint. The dual camera sensors are raised up and oriented horizontally beside a LED flash. Overall smartphone design is so nice but it is not water proof.

Display

Oneplus 5T houses a 6-inch display with aspect ratio of 18:9 which means you are getting the full screen display according to the latest trend. It is larger than Oneplus 5 so get the advantages of bigger screen. It comes with full Optics AMOLED display which is very nice for watching and it also doesn’t disturb like others such as the iPhone X’s OLED display. It has FHD+ resolution despite 6-inch display while QHD is needed for this device. Anyway, it offers 440 nits of maximum brightness and 2.1 nits of minimum brightness. It gives clearer results than the predecessor. The contrast ratio of black and white is also improved so let’s watch and enjoy movies and videos.

Chipset and CPU performance

Oneplus 5T is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset about which, as you know, the fastest and most efficient SoC that runs much smoothly. It is accompanied with Octa core processor which is blazing fast in performance. According to Geek bench 4.1, the Oneplus 5T scored 6701 in multi-core test and 1960 marks in single-core performance. Both scores are higher than those of Oneplus 5. The 5T surpassed all other flagship smartphones in multi and single core performance except Galaxy S8+, iPhone 8+ and iPhone X. Antutu 6 gives 179790 score for overall performance of the handset.

RAM and ROM

The Oneplus 5T offers in two variants - 64GB and 128GB. If your requirement about memory is higher and you want to store everything in your smartphone then you should choose 128GB variant otherwise the 64GB storage is massive to collect your all useful data. You can save huge pictures, softwares, notes and other media files easily. The disadvantage of Oneplus 5T is that the handset doesn't have a slot for storage expansion so be careful when you are selecting either of 64GB or 128GB variant. Also in case of RAM, you have choice to get either of 6GB or 8GB RAM. The 6GB RAM is enough for multi-tasking and gaming but if you want to enjoy much smoother performance and wish to play more heavy games then you have to choose 8GB RAM. According to a gaming test of Basemarks X, the Oneplus 5T gets 38656 score which is remarkable for gamers.

Camera performance

Oneplus 5T has the same dual 16MP + 20MP camera snappers but there is a bit difference. In the Oneplus 5, one lens is telephoto and the other lens is wide but in the 5T both are wider and having 27.22mm focal length and f/1.7 aperture for better low light photography. It enables EIS recording as well. The image and video shooting result is better than before. The camera interface is same and this time with a simple look and easy gesture control.

On the front we found the same selfie camera of 16MP. It is supported with EIS gyroscope. Lets you can capture and share your favorite moments easily. Its selfie results are very good and clear but not as the Galaxy Note 8 and iPhone X selfie camera performance.

Face Unlock security

Face unlock is the sick feature of 5T. It doesn't work accurately. Sometime it not recognizes user’s face. Even it can't work for banking or Android Pay. Oneplus have just removed the loan we meant to say the Company have just added the face unlock without making it enough powerful to work for banking. It is not full secure and sometime another one can unlock facial recognition security.

Software

This is one of the aggressive factors that the Oneplus used the old Android 7.1.1 (Nougat), the company released its Oneplus 5T recently while the Android 8.0 Oreo has been launched. However the Android OS 7.1.1 is not latest (Oreo is the latest) but it is perfect in performance. Further, there is latest Oxygen OS 4.7 which makes your platform attractive and beautiful. It brings some new features like ‘shelf’ where you can add widgets, see weather and your frequent contact, and change the header image.

You can enable or disable shelf at any time. Oxygen OS allows you to replace the icons show up in the status bar. You can enjoy smooth configuration on it. Moreover, it is supported with DCI-P3 which is an RGB color space featured with wider color gamut so you can get double advantages.

Battery

When we come to the battery of Oneplus 5T, we get the same one as present in the Oneplus 5. The 3300mAh battery is not perfect for heavy usage but it gives you about 22 hours talk time, 10 hours browsing time, and 16 hours video playback time.

Additionally, it is supported with Dash charger for faster charging. You can recharge power from 0% to 100% within 60 minutes.

Price

The most delightful thing about the smartphone is its price. The Standard variant (6GB+64GB) of Oneplus 5T is priced at $500 and the premium variant (8GB+128GB) of 5T is available for $560.

Honestly, in our opinion it is the most affordable cost for a flagship level smartphone.
