Introduction
Asus has build up its reputation as manufacturers of best laptops which are famous in the market and popular among the users not only because of their good look but also best performance. They demonstrate the highest level of Asus expertise and reliability of the product. They are equally famous for smartphones and tablets. Recently at the CES 2015 they have introduce their mid range smartphone with good specs with the Asus ZenFone 2. It is successor to Asus ZenFone and more or less the same in specs and performance. It is the first smartphone with a massive RAM of 4GB. None before have such a big RAM.
Build and Design
It carries impressive design and dimensions. By holding it in the hand users feel so comfortable and pleasant touch of the handset. It is well shaped device made out of plastic and molded into a beautiful shape. Since its rear cover is removable therefore it is highly customizable and users can personalize it by changing the cover of color of their own choice. It is in RED metallic finish having brushed effect yet giving the truth out that it is plastic. There are various texture patterns and colors available for the cover and users can change it on choice. For a convenient control the volume button is located on the back of the mobile. Design concerns the apparent look of the device and placement of controls on the body.
Display
The Asus ZenFone 2 front look is decorated with 5.5 inches IPS display having 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. This is a common information that most of the users have and there is nothing new in it. It shows bright colors in their natural hue and give a pleasant effect to the eye. Although it is not very special feature but it is certainly a plus point in this mid range handset. The brightness of the screen enhances the visibility and can be used in bright light also.
Software and user Interface
The device is android based but not purely android operated because Asus is Chinese company and the manufacturers are not idle minded people. They are dynamic and always looking for something new and own, therefore Android inside the Asus ZenFone 2 is Asus customized Android with the ZenUI and it runs the latest version of the UI on top of Android 5.0 Lollipop. That is something wonderful considering the fact that many current high-end Android phones are still waiting to be updated. It carries a good balance between minimalism and responsiveness, as every interaction is followed by some quick and pleasant looking animation. The new interface keeps the users busy and absorbed as the users would like to explore more and more and experiment with it according to their imagination.
Processor and Memory
Asus is experimenting different configurations but with extreme expertise. It has Android with its own UI and here it has a 64-bit based Intel Atom Z3580 processor and with very powerful 4GB of RAM. This provides extreme smoothness with great speed and any task is no problem with this sort of configuration. In memory we have three versions of ZenFone 2. It will be provided with three options; 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB capacities, further supported by microSD card slot to increase the storage externally enhancing its utility for those who need to store large files and huge data on their smartphone for ready reference anywhere.
Camera
Gone are the days when we were very happy to talk on a wireless mobile phone without any feature other than just a telephone. Now that feature is far behind and we look for more and more and rather everything in a device that we can hold move around and do anything. Now we cannot imagine a smartphone without a camera. We take it for granted that mobile phone is definitely equipped with a camera. Now it is the race of quality and capacity of the camera that is matter of concern.
Asus Zenfone 2 has a 13-megapixel rear camera that features a 5-element f/2.0 apertures lens and a dual-color Real Tone LED flash. This camera is an excellent thing for use under low-lighting conditions and its dynamic-range mode features to adapt and enhance photos to expose improved details and the color range. For selfies and video calling it has a respectable 5-megapixel wide-angle camera with an f/2.0 aperture lens. This camera configuration sounds good and is impressive but seeing is believing and until we see it, use it and see the results, we cannot comment any further on assumptions. Let us wait for its physical presence.
Battery:
ZenFone 2 comes with a powerhouse contained in sturdy 3,000 mAh Li-Po battery with support for fast charging tech which makes it possible to restore 60% of the total capacity in just 39 minutes which is quite impressive. This capacity, coupled with the frugal 1080p display would likely mean about two days of normal usage on a charge. However these are just the figures subject to test and trial to prove the fact behind these specifications.
PRICE:
ASUS Zenfone 2 is well configured handset and is loaded with many good features giving an impression of something very costly. The company is aware of the competition in the market and cannot ask very high price. Considering many factors ASUS Zenfone 2 has been priced at $199 off-contract available in March with five different color options.
Release Date
Asus ZenFone 2 will be in the market available for sale to the users in March 2015 whereas more advanced version named ZenFone Zoom has to wait for market appearance till second quarter of the year
Expectations
With such specs and other features Asus has the ZenFone 2 is priced at an impressive cost of $200. That’s really surprising and unbelievable. Especially for something with a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a 64-bit based processor, and running Android 5.0 Lollipop. Hopefully it will be source of satisfaction for the users and the company both.
