Samsung Grand Prime Pro review

Last Update 2019-02-12

The Galaxy Grand Prime Pro is the upgraded version of Samsung Grand Prime Plus. It has slightly improved technology while the rest specs are the same. Display panel, Software, CPU and Storage are the main differences between them.

Advantages:

1 – Super AMOLED display

2 – Dual SIM and 4G support

3 – Long Life Battery (2600mAh)

4 – Affordable Price ($170)

Disadvantages:

1 – Insufficient qHD resolution

2 – Android 7.0 (Nougat) instead of 8.0

3 – Fingerprint Sensor Missing

Design and Display

Samsung Grand Prime Pro is fabricated with a plastic body. It has the same design and almost looks like the Grand Prime Plus but it comes in Black, Gold, and Blue. There is a 16:9 aspect ratio screen manufactured under the 2.5D curved glass, a well equipped Home Button, a selfie camera lens, an earpiece, and a right side-mounted Power Key. A fingerprint reader is absent and the micro USB port is available at the bottom alongside 3.5 mm audio socket. The Grand Prime Pro measures 5.0 inches Super AMOLED display which has 540 x 960 pixels resolution. The display is very good for vivid and vibrant pictures but its lower resolution does not provide accurate brightness to enjoy high definition videos and games.

Software, Battery, and Connectivity

Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Pro is running on Android OS v7.0 (Nougat) which is not latest and doesn’t offer a lot of new features which are provided by hottest Android 8.0 (Oreo). On the other hand, the Grand Prime Plus was running Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) and in this way, the Grand Prime Pro is better. Actually, Samsung upgrades its devices but the Grand series smartphones always fall behind in software technology competition.

Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Pro packs in 2600mAh battery, the same one which was used for its old sibling but now it runs for a complete day and gives you satisfaction. It offers up to 18 hours 3G talk time and up to 60 hours of music play time. It takes longer than an hour to recharge battery juice.

In terms of Connectivity, Samsung Grand Prime Pro supports GSM, HSPA and LTE networks technology which means you are getting all fast connectivity options - 2G, 3G, and 4G. The 4G LTE Cat4 band enables you to get 150MBps download speed and 50MBps upload speed. Bluetooth v4.2, GPS, WiFi, FM radio, and micro USB v2.0 are also available there.

Performance and Memory

Samsung used Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset for Grand Prime Pro to manage steady workflow. It is powered by 1.4GHz quad-core processor. The combination provides good performance for simple use but you cannot perform multi-tasking smoothly. Adreno 308 GPU is implanted inside to support beautiful graphics on the screen. In this modern age, the 1.5GB RAM does not provide a better gaming experience. There are several heavy apps and games available on the internet and you can play a few ones. The Galaxy Grand Prime Pro comes with 16GB Memory which is enough to save a lot of pictures and a few video files. The microSD slot enhancement is good to get more storage space up to 64GB.

Camera and Price

Samsung Grand Prime Pro is okay for photography and video shooting. The rear side camera is 8MP which takes the responsibility to record full HD movies at 30fps. The low light performance has needed to improve more while the daylight camera performance is very good. It is featured with geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama, portrait mode, lightning mode, and LED flash. It adds some beauty effects, too.

The Grand Prime Pro gets a 5MP selfie camera which is assisted with its own LED flash to capture your delightful moments. The video calling result is ugly but the selfie capturing performance is nice. The Price of Galaxy Grand Prime Pro is $170.

Last Lines

Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Pro is a very good budget-friendly choice for ordinary use. Although, it is not perfect but have an affordable price and some upgraded features as compared to the predecessor.
