Body and Design

Design wise, Redmi Note 7 is beautiful and eye-catching, equipped with a plastic body but polished, symmetrical and coated with Corning Gorilla Glass Version 5, a minimal V selfie notch instead of an ugly bar type, full view display, 19.5:9 viewing aspect, and above 80% screen-to-body ratio. Measuring 159.2 x 75.2 x 8.1 mm dimensions and weighing in at 186 grams.

Due to Glass cover, the handset is slight slippery while the Plastic Body can smash quickly after a fall down. But these are minor cracks and you can solve them with a case in accessories.

Although not receive IP6X rating, the Redmi Note 7 is tightly sealed and it can handle a few water drops or splashes. There is Dual Rear Camera setup along with a Fingerprint Sensor, a power and two volume keys on the right and dual SIM tray on the left side, a 3.5 mm jack, speaker grilles and micro USB port at the bottom luckily Type C reversible connector 2.0. New Independent Redmi forgets to avail NFC so you could face payment transaction issues when migrating or visiting other countries.

Fingerprint Scanner is easier to access on the back, also quite fast and reliable.

Display and Software

Redmi Note 7 boasts a 6.3inches IPS LCD Display offering you large content for reading, 1080x2340 pixels resolution, and 409 PPI Density to give you crisp, sharp and apparent screen. You can brighten up screen up to 480 nits for a sunny environment. Display in every term is fine here except the unsaturated colors around the notch.

Xiaomi tried its best to introduce a perfect budget-friendly smartphone, thus the Redmi Note 7 offers you to run Android 9.0 (Pie) with the customized MIUI 10. Both are the latest OS and they have stock Android files, Quick Toggles, new themes, further AI modes, and more bug fixes. The downside is only missing the shortcut to the settings menu.

Performance and Memory

The Redmi Note 7 provides smooth performance and allows heavy multitasking. You can Play PUBG and Asphalt Nitro 8 like games easily, thanks to the Qualcomm's Snapdragon 660 chipset, 14nm Octa-core processor with up to 2.2GHz clock rate and Adreno 512 GPU. The graphics are pretty good and the overall performance is quite impressive. The downfall is the 3GB RAM for starting version, but you can get the Redmi Note 7 with either 4GB or 6GB RAM also.

Redmi Note 7 is the benchmarking level smartphone for other mid-range handsets. Let’s take the help of Geekbench and AnTuTu scores to show off.

Redmi Note 7 achieved 1462 scores for single-core and 4556 scores for multi-core efficiency. And the AnTuTu awarded 144,599 scores for overall CPU performance.

Thought 64GB Internal Storage is sufficient for you, since if you feel for memory expansion then insert a microSD card and let it go up to 512GB.

48MP Camera Photography

Are you a photography lover? Get ready to enjoy a superb shooting experience. The Redmi Note 7 is the world’s first budget smartphone to get ultra high 48MP Camera of f/1.8 aperture. Further, it has a secondary 5MP (f/2.4) sensor too. Appreciable Image Quality, great Depth Sensing Details, perfect HDR shots, fine portrait mode, and Impressive low-light photographs are. AI modes and filters work fine and you can make the best shots.

You may disappoint a bit when you come to Video Recording section. The Redmi Note 7 allows you to shoot 1080p standard movies at 30, 60 and 120 fps. But the handset will not offer you to record 4k videos, though, the Snapdragon 660 can support it.  Thankfully, there is EIS support at least to enjoy FHD video shooting.

13MP Selfie Camera Test

Redmi Note 7 is not a selfie-centric phone, but it has 13MP Front Camera of f/2.0 aperture and HDR support for Full HD+ Selfies and Video Calls. You can create amazing beauty shots, AI images and Bokeh mode blurred pictures. Also get manual settings for the camera, self-timer, exposure control, digital zooming, lighting effects, and others.

The Selfie Camera works fine but it is less responsive and takes a few seconds to focus on the object. The results are quite good but the rear camera photography is unmatchable for this segment.

Battery and Connectivity

Redmi Note 7 houses a non-removable Li-Ion 4000mAh battery that gives the life of two days working. It delivers you up to 32 hours 3G Talk Time, 14 hours of web-browsing and 13 hours of video playback. The Xiaomi mobile supports 18W Quick Charge 4.0 for fast charging and refills 0% to 100% life within 80 minutes. You have to buy Fast Charger separately because you will not find this in the box.

Cost

Redmi Note 7 Price is only $150 for the standard 3GB RAM variant. The other models 4GB and 6GB RAM are available respectively for $180 and $210.

Verdict

Redmi Note 7 is a perfect deal just for $150, the 48MP Camera experience, good selfie results, big display, nice look, long-lasting battery, and the pros which can surpass its cons. You can consider for an alternative too, the Realme 2 Pro not as admirable as Redmi Note 7 but appreciable.
