Update: Apple announced officially it is acquiring Intel modem business for $1 billion.

Flashback Story

Last month, Apple was successful to persuade Qualcomm for supplying 5G modems for future iPhones. Due to which Intel has to shut down 5G modem business, and the American company is now chasing tail lights of competitor (Qualcomm). But a new report brings a twist in the story. According to The Wall Street Journal, Apple and Intel are in talks not to demand modems manufacturing but for acquiring Intel modem business.

The WSJ disclosed Apple will acquire Intel for one billion dollars, and the deal is said to be done next week.

Familiar people with plans told Steve Jobs (Apple Inc. CEO) is taking such an important decision to produce their personal modems in order to trim down dependence on Qualcomm.

Apple is expected to launch iPhone XI, XI Max and XI R this year, which are allegedly no-5G smartphones, so they could keep inside Intel 4G modems for iPhones 2019. It’s not surprising, rumors are shouting for a long not to support 5G by imminent iPhones, and further, some official reports indicated to get 5G iPhones in 2020.

iPhones XI family is coming in the first two weeks of September 2019, and the starting price of iPhone 2019 could be as such $1,100.
