Realme X50 5G hands-on, brand's first 5G phone

Right on schedule, the Realme X50 5G launched with a 120Hz refresh rate and SDM 765G Chipset. The X50 5G has announced today (7-January) at an event in China, and it will be expected to compete with the recently launched Redmi K30 that also uses the same processor (SDM 765G). On the other hand, Realme has also unveiled the X50 5G Master Edition that is designed by Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa. The standard X50 5G is now available in China, with a starting price of CNY 2,499. The company said that the X50 5G Master Edition would available for purchase from January 14, 2020.

Realme X50 5G Design and features

The Realme X50 5G built with the Glass Aluminum frame, and the front panel is coated with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The mobile phone weighs 202 grams, and its dimensions are 163.8 x 75.8 x 8.9mm. On the front panel, it has a pill-shaped cutout for selfie shooters while the back panel has a vertically shaped quad-camera setup. The X50 5G Master Edition has just back design difference; otherwise, all features are the same as the standard version. The Master Edition has a unique pattern of lines and points that draw inspiration from the reflection of light on smooth metal surfaces.

The Realme X50 5G flaunts a 6.57 inches display (IPS LCD) with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. The 120HZ refresh rate offers a 20:9 aspect ratio and a 90.4 percent screen-to-body ratio with 401 PPI density. The Android 10 OS overlaid with the latest OPPO’s layer ColorOS 7 is running in this device and also offers new features like Dark Mode and ultra-game mode etc. The new cell phone draws power from the Snapdragon 765G Chipset, and it arrives in 6 GB, 8 GB and 12 GB LPDDR4x RAM variants. The phone also supports dual Wi-Fi connections and dual 5G networks (SA/NSA). The five-dimensional ice-cooled heat dissipation system that includes a double layer of graphite sheet, liquid-cooled copper pipe, thermal gel, thermal silicon pad, copper foil thermal array, and more layers graphite sheet optimize the phone performance for better use.

The rear shell of the X50 5G has a quad-camera setup, which includes a 64MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, 8MP ultra-wide shooter with 119-degree Field Of View, 12MP telephoto lens f/2.4 aperture and a 2MP macro sensor with f/2.4 aperture and focal length of 4cm. The quad cameras offer 20x hybrid zoom, UIS, and UIS Max video stabilization, 4K video recording at 30fps, and 960fps slow-motion recording. On the other hand, the pill-shaped cutout at the upper left corner has a Sony’s 16MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture and an 8MP super-wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture. The front camera setup has UIS Super Image Stabilizer, video portrait blur, portrait night, AI portrait beauty, and it can record FHD videos at 30fps. The Realme X50 5G has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for authentication. Moreover, the handset packs a 4,200 mAh battery with 30W fast charging support. The enhanced version of 30W VOOOC 4.0 Flash Charge Technology can charge the 70% battery only in 30 minutes.
