Introduction

Realme is expanding its 5G smartphone series, and today the brand has announced another budget-friendly 5G smartphone. Realme X50 series consists of 5G smartphones by Realme. Until now we have seen Realme X50 5G that was released in January, followed by Realme X50 Pro 5G. And now we have another smartphone for the X50 series called Realme X50m 5G. The highlight of the phone is 5G connectivity at an affordable price. Not only this, but it also comes with other adequate specifications. According to the price and specifications, Realme X50m 5G is going to be the cheapest option in the X50 series. Although, there is not a massive difference in the price and specs of X50m and X50 5G. The newly unveiled Realme X50m comes with some exciting features like 120Hz refresh rate supporting screen with a dual front-facing camera, Snapdragon 765G processor, 30W fast charging technology, and 48-megapixel quad rear cameras.

Price and availability

The Realme X50m comes in two models such as 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. They are priced at 1,999 Yuan ($282) and 2,299 Yuan ($324), respectively. Both variants can be availed in color editions such as Starry Blue and Galaxy White. The first sale of the phone will be carried out in China on April 29 at 10:00 AM.

Design and display

The phone measures 163.8 x 75.8 x 8.9mm and weighs 202 grams. It features a very similar design as seen on other Realme devices. X50m 5G just looks like the upper variant X50. One will not be able to differentiate if you are using X50m or X50. Although keep in mind that the Realme X50m does not come with a 3.5mm headphone jack. The device comes in two colors; Starry Blue and Galaxy White. The device looks super clean, with vertical rear camera setup and Realme branding on the lower side of the device. I have no issues with this design, although it will be nice to see a change. The Realme X50m is the RMX2142 smartphone that was approved by the TENAA authority in the recent past. The glass bodied phone features a 6.57-inch IPS LCD panel with a pill-shaped cutout at the upper-left corner. The screen supports full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, aspect ratio of 20:9, and 120Hz refresh rate. It delivers a screen-to-body ratio of 90.4 percent. The phone comes equipped with a side-facing fingerprint reader.

The camera setup has a 48-megapixel primary sensor paired with an 8MP wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front side, the pill-shaped punch-hole notch gives housing to a 16-megapixel front sensor also paired with a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The rear camera supports 4K videos at 30fps, while the front camera supports 1080p video shooting at 30fps.

As for comparison, the X50 5G has better front-facing and rear-mounted cameras. At the front, it houses a 16-megapixel (main) + 8-megapixel (ultrawide) dual selfie snappers. The rear shell of the device features a quad camera setup with a 64-megapixel main lens, a 12-megapixel telephoto shooter, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor.

Software, processor, and battery

Like its elder brothers, the device is also powered by Snapdragon 765G based on the 7nm process. The chipset allows the device to use 5G networks thanks to an integrated 5G modem. The chipset is paired with 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 128GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage options. There is an Adreno 620 GPU. It is backed up by a 4200 mAh battery. The device also supports 30W Dart Charging Technology that ensures a 70 percent battery by charging it only for 30 minutes. Realme X50m 5G comes out of the box with Realme UI based on Android 10.
