With the announcement of the Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset earlier this month, we were expecting Red Magic 5S to have this new chipset onboard. The company, however, has stuck with the Snapdragon 865 on the Red Magic 5S — the same as its predecessor. Nubia Red Magic 5S has up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 built-in storage. The phone features a 6.65-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with minimal top and bottom bezels. The refresh rate is 144Hz and comes alongside 240Hz touch sampling. The phone also comes with capacitive touch triggers which have an even higher 320Hz touch rate for optimal performance. The handset has the new ICE 4.0 three-dimensional heat dissipation system. In addition, there are also liquid cooling tubes, high thermal conductivity copper foil, thermal gel, and multilayer heat dissipation graphite. The triple rear camera setup has a 64MP Sony IMX686 primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 2MP macro sensor. It runs Android 10-based Red Magic OS out-of-the-box. There’s also a 4,500mAh battery with 55W NeoCharge fast-charging support.
