The Samsung Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20 Plus aren’t expected to have a 108MP primary camera like the Galaxy S20 Ultra, just a 12MP sensor with a larger pixel size than the cameras on the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10. However, according to rumors, the S20 and S20 Plus will feature a higher-resolution sensor for the telephoto camera – a 64MP sensor. Today (29-January), a popular twitter leakster Ice universe, is shedding some light on how the 64MP telephoto camera will work.

The tipster claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20 Plus both would feature the 64-megapixel telephoto shooter to record 8K videos. He suggests that the phones would not record 8K videos using the primary rear camera sensor. It seems the 64MP telephoto camera is the one that will be used for recording 8K videos. The leaker Ice Universe quoted that “The telephoto sensor S5KGW2 of the S20 / S20+ is a special pure 64MP camera. It cannot be 4 in 1 combined into 16MP. It will be used for pixel cropping zoom and 8K video.” The leaked camera specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20 Plus revealed that both models would come with a 12-megapixel Sony IMX555 primary sensor.
