6.7in Vs 6.4in Display

Samsung A80 is bigger with 6.7inches screen of 20:9 aspect ratio, however, the Oppo Reno has a smaller 6.4inches display of 19.5:9 viewing aspect. We can calculate the Galaxy smartphone gives more estate for browsing and reading.

Except for the size, the Oppo smartphone is better for watching at outdoors when you want to maximize brightness. Oppo Reno spreads 402 PPI Density while the Galaxy A80 shows 393 PPI Density, and both they are rich with FHD+ resolution.

Samsung A80 uses Super AMOLED technology for perfect dynamic color range and sharp vibrant views and those are similar results with the Oppo Reno’s AMOLED display and 97% DCI-P3 coverage. Users need no wide line l1 certification for enjoying Netflix on both.

If you are in favor of Galaxy A80, you should concern about serious protection, as the Samsung mobile has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the front. Aside from this the Oppo Reno facilitates a user with Corning Gorilla Glass 6, the latest one for real-time protection for the display.

Note: Both the smartphones have Gorilla Glass 6 on the back, and we only find version difference on the front.

UD FR: Samsung A80 and Oppo Reno adopt the latest In-Display Fingerprint Sensing technology, and now they are equivalent faster and reliable for biometric security.

OneUI Vs ColorOS 6 (Software Comparison)

Out of the box, Samsung A80 and Oppo Reno run Android OS v9.0 (Pie), but they have different user interfaces.

The Galaxy A80 brings OneUI and its top features are as follows Improved One-Hand Usability, Navigation Gestures, Adoptable Storage (to behave micro-SD card like internal memory), Dark Night Mode, Gallery Recycle Bin (which keeps deleted photos for 15 days), Life to Wake, Smart Orientation, and New Animations Control (for camera), etc.

Now its turn for Oppo Reno, it boots ColorOS 6 that comes with top six features as follows New Gradient Interface, Boosted Game Space, App Drawer and Search Bar for local apps, Smart Gestures, Smart Assistant, and Smart Driving mode (driving for car and riding for a bike).

Both are attractive for their optimized performance, beautiful look, and new updates to facilitate users. Now, it (selection) depends on you, because both are handsome equally for us.

48MP Vs 48MP Camera or Triple Vs Dual

It is the department where Galaxy A80 gets prominent success over the Oppo Reno. The Samsung A80 has three cameras 48MP (f/2.0, wide-angle) + 8MP (f/2.2, ultrawide) + 3D ToF, which are using for both photography and selfies, thanks to Samsung for giving us the world’s first technology armed with rising Pop-Up and Rotating Camera setup. However, the Oppo Reno has dual rear snappers 48MP (f/1.7, wide-angle) + 5MP (f/2.0, depth) and a front-facing Pop-Up Selfie Shooter of 16MP (f/2.0) which don’t rotate like Samsung, hence the Oppo can’t beat Galaxy A80’s triple rear cam selfies and photos, even the Reno lacks ultrawide lens and 3D time-of-flight cam by Samsung works better than Reno’s depth sensor.

Those are daylight or low-light or night mode shots, users can identify a more splendid Samsung A80 camera performance, even it has additional features than Oppo Reno, such as animation control or manual blur.

Video Recording: Samsung Galaxy A80 and Oppo Reno have HDR support and they are OIS stabilized and capable of recording FHD videos, but the Galaxy smartphone is only to give an opportunity for making 4k movies and video calls from both sides, whereas the Oppo Reno back optics supports 4k, not the front.

Snapdragon 730 Vs 710 (Performance Test)

Undoubtedly, Samsung Galaxy A80 is getting good remarks over Oppo Reno. The Samsung smartphone performs better in each case and becomes the first to get Snapdragon 730 an 8nm chipset, which is smoother and consumes less power than 10nm SD710 powered Oppo Reno. Both they have eight-core processors running at similar 2.2GHz frequency, but for graphics the Adreno 618 of Samsung A80 shows more efficiency over Adreno 615 of Oppo Reno, not a huge difference between animations though.

Let’s see the benchmarking reports to check the performance difference in both smartphones. Samsung Galaxy A80 achieved 207,082 AnTuTu scores for total performance, whereas 2488 and 6732 scores got for single and multi core Geekbench tests, respectively. In case of Oppo Reno, Geekbench awarded 1718 marks for single-core and 5834 marks for multi-core test while the Oppo Reno received 166,935 AnTuTu scores for overall hardware performance.

If you’re one with heavy gaming and multitasking usage, go for the Galaxy A80 which owns 8GB RAM as a standard or choose the 8GB RAM model of Oppo Reno, but don’t select a 6GB RAM option for Oppo except while you are looking for an affordable one.

Storage: None of those phones has space for a micro-SD slot, therefore, select any variant carefully. Galaxy A80 offers 128GB Internal Memory which is not expandable even no more storage option. However, the Oppo Reno gives 128GB personal memory for the base model and takes user up to 256GB exclusive option.

Battery

You can choose anyone for a satisfied handset life, but your decision could change by the fast charging technologies they support. The smartphones have non-removable Li-Po batteries; the Galaxy A80 is juicy at 3,700 mAh and 25W Quick Charge while the Oppo Reno walks a bit more at 3,765 mAh but downgraded 20W VOOC Charge.

We found Samsung mobile gets charged quicker than Oppo mobile.

Body Colors: Oppo Reno offers more beautiful choices as follows Fog Sea Green, Extreme Night Black, Nebula Purple, and Pink Mist. The Samsung A80 dressing is gorgeous but arrives in only three Angel Gold, Ghost White, and Phantom Black.

Verdict

Samsung Galaxy A80 is an overall best choice if you can spend on for experiencing a Pop-Up and Rotating camera including a 48MP one, but if a consumer doesn’t like to mess with budget, he/she can opt for Oppo Reno as a best affordable alternative.
