Xiaomi Mi Note 10, 10 Pro (Mi CC9 Pro) in-depth review

 One of the most popular mobile phone maker Xiaomi has released the world’s first 108MP Penta camera setup smartphone. Firstly, the brand unveiled Mi CC9 Pro for home country (China), and yesterday (6th November), it announced the global variant at the Madrid event. Sure, we are talking about Xiaomi Mi Note 10. Along with Mi Note 10, the company also released pro variant “Mi Note 10 Pro”. The pro version hasn’t much difference; it has just 8P lens technology in the primary camera (108MP) instead of 7P lens and extra RAM option (8GB RAM). Xiaomi Mi Note 10 arrives with Aurora Green, Glacier White, and Midnight Black color options, and it offers 6GB of RAM and 128GB native storage options at a $440 price tag.

Design and Body material

Xiaomi Mi Note 10 offers edge-to-edge display (Xiaomi calls 3D display phone) and waterdrop notch design, and the company claims that it has an 87.8% screen-to-body ratio. Dimensionally, it measures 157.8 x 74.2 x 9.7mm, and its weight is 208 grams. The phone built with Aluminum frame, and the front and rear panel is coated with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 as well. The shiny back of this device offers a Penta camera setup, and two LED flashes out of the box. One LED Flash has a clear front glass (it’s brighter) while the second has a diffuser front glass, and its light is much softer (less bright). In terms of physical keys, Mi Note 10 Pro has all keys on the right side which includes a power button, volume rockers as well as dual-SIM card tray. Just above the OLED screen is one very thin earpiece grille, and the bottom of the phone gets speakers grille, USB-C port, and 3.5mm audio jack.

Display

Xiaomi Mi Note 10 arrives with 6.47 inches Super AMOLED display that can support FHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels at 399 PPI density. With the 19.5:9 aspect ratio, the phone offers HDR10 and DCI-P3 out of the box. In terms of brightness, the Mi Note 10 offers 430 nits excellent light, and you can adjust as high as up to 600 nits (maximum brightness), this is a great thing. In our display test, it gets 2.2 nits scores for the minimum brightness option. We measured DeltaE 3.7 scores for DCI-P3 color space mode, and you can choose three options in this mode – Default, Warm, and Cool. Along with sRGB, we measured DeltaE 1.3 scores in terms of Color Accuracy.

Battery

The phone has a 5,260 mAh massive battery, which is 30% larger than predecessor Mi 9 Pro’s 4,000 mAh and 60% larger than regular version Mi 9’s 3,300 mAh. Xiaomi Mi Note 10 supports 30W fast charging based on USB Power Delivery, and the company ships 30W adapter with the phone.

The 30W charger has charge battery 57% in 30 minutes, and it takes about 65 minutes for a full charge. The phone offers a 95h excellent battery endurance rating, and it can do about 33:34h for 3G Talk Time. We can web browsing about 12:32h and spends 22:20h for watching videos.

Software (MIUI 11 based on Android 9 Pie)

Xiaomi Mi Note 10 runs MIUI 11 based on Android 9 Pie OS and offers Adreno 618 GPU. Along with the new MIUI 11 layer, it introduces a cleaner interface, and improved always-on screen, expanded Dark Mode, Smart Notifications sound and a better document editor. In AOD mode, you can select different themes and also supports breathing light – the curved edges of the display that can flash colors upon new notifications. The Mi Note 10 arrives with UD ultra-fast fingerprint technology, so you can easily unlock the device screen only in 0.2 seconds. The Dark Mode has switched all system colors from white to black, and it can save some battery juice. The MIUI supports nature alarm and notifications, which sound different depending on the time of the day. It has no app drawer, so all apps are just sitting there on the phone home-screen. No doubt, you can install a third-party launcher if you miss the app drawer.

In default home screen, it has a “Swipe up to unlock” option, and the MIUI layer also offers a security app that can scan your phone for malware, manage your blacklist, manage your data usage, configure battery behavior, and free up some RAM. The Mi Note 10 gets proprietary Gallery, Music, and Video Player. It introduces a new document viewing app that offers all popular formats and makes more natural viewing docs on your phone.

Performance and Synthetic Benchmarks

The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 employs the powerful upper mid-range Snapdragon 730G Chipset from Qualcomm. The SDM 730G is pretty much identical to its vanilla sibling, and it gets two Kryo 470 Cortex-A76 clocked at 2.2GHz and another six Kryo 470 Cortex-A55 clocked at 1.8GHz. The Chipset is constructed on an 8nm Octa-core processor, and it has Adreno 618 GPU. Xiaomi Mi Note 10 is coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB native storage options. In terms of Benchmarks, the Smartphone gets different scores in the following ranks.

Rear Camera Setup (108MP Primary sensor for excellent photography experience)

The world’s first Penta Camera setup phone has Samsung’s ISOCELL Bright HMX 108MP sensor that can provide 12032 x 9024 highest resolution as well. The 108MP sensor can produce billboard-level prints up to 4.24 meters large. The phone has four other sensors, which include a 20-megapixel ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture, a 12MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, 50mm focal length, and f/2.0 aperture, an 5MP telephoto camera with f/2.0 aperture and 5x optical zoom and last member has 2MP macro sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The 2MP macro sensor can capture as high as up to 10cm with 1.75µm pixels. Along with 1/1.33,” the primary shooter supports 4-inch-1 pixel binning to obtain more detail in low-light conditions. The phone offers Night Mode 2.0 and the ultra-wide sensor with 117-degree FOV produce beautiful images in low-light theme. It offers HDR10, and you can capture 27MP pictures with its main cam at the dynamic range. In portrait mode, we can capture beautiful images with natural skin tones.

Along with 0.6x optical zoom mode, it provides beautiful images at maximum color accuracy. The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 can record up to 4K videos at 30fps and FHD videos (1080p) at both 30fps and 60fps. You can record slow-motion videos at 960fps (only primary and ultra-wide sensors can record).

 

Front Camera

The water-drop notch on the front panel houses a 32MP sensor for taking selfies and live video recording. The 32-megapixel has an f/2.0 aperture and 0.8µm pixels, and it offers HDR features for best selfie experience. We captured beautiful pictures at Dynamic high range, and it gives incredible detail in Daylight time. Our night time selfie experience is too good but not great because we can’t get the maximum results. Xiaomi Mi Note 10 provides beautiful photos with natural skin tones in portrait mode.
