Introduction
During an online launch event today, Realme has officially announced the highly anticipated Realme X3 smartphone in India. The Chinese firm also launched a premium Realme X3 SuperZoom device alongside it. As the name goes, the Realme X3 SuperZoom has a periscope telephoto lens that brings support for up to 60x hybrid zoom. As we know, the Realme X3 SuperZoom is exactly the same device that was announced in the European market last month. The Realme X3 on the other hand is a brand new device that borrows many features from the high-end Realme X3 SuperZoom. The key highlights of the vanilla Realme X3 handset include 120Hz refresh supporting display, dual front-facing cameras, Snapdragon 855+ mobile platform, and quad rear camera setup. The Realme X3 will be available in blue and white colors and starts at INR 24,999 ($330) for the 6GB/128GB trim. There’s also an 8GB/128GB version for INR 25,999 ($343) and the device is scheduled to go on sale on June 30 via Realme's web store and Flipkart with offline store availability to follow shortly after.
Design and display
The Realme X3 comes with 3D curved glass rear with a premium finish. The phone is equipped with a 6.6-inch IPS LCD screen with a pill-shaped cutout for housing two front-facing cameras. The Full HD+ display supports a 20:9 aspect ratio and up to 120Hz refresh rate. The handset offers 90.5 percent screen to body ratio, claims the company. The screen of the Realme X3 device is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. There is a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for authentication. It has volume buttons on the left side.
Front and rear cameras
The Realme X3 has a 16-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens in its dual selfie camera setup. The back panel of the phone features a quad-camera system that includes a 64-megapixel Samsung GW1 main lens, a 51mm 12-megapixel telephoto lens, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro lens. The Realme X3 features Nightscape 4.0 that brings support for Starry Mode for capturing shots of stars in the night sky. The autofocus feature allows users to focus on a particular element even in the farther starry sky by taking 10 long exposure shots and processing it with multi-frame synthesis. It results in capturing brighter night shots with less noise.
For enhanced photography experience in low-light conditions, the Realme X3 comes with few settings options like AI Super Nightscape, Ultra Nightscape, Tripod Mode, Starry Mode, and Pro Nightscape with manual settings. The front and rear cameras of the X3 also support photography features such as UIX Max Stabilization, ultra-wide-angle video shooting, real-time bokeh mode, up to 4K video shooting, and slow-motion video shooting.
Processor, battery, and software
Under the hood, the Realme X3 is driven by a slightly older Snapdragon 855+ SoC which is assisted by up to 8GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. The utilization of a non-5G chip makes sense in markets where 5G network isn’t readily available to the consumers. Needless to say, an older chip also keeps the cost down and makes the device more affordable. However, the SDM 855 Plus SoC is constructed on a 7nm Octa-core processor (1x2.96 GHz Kryo 485 & 3x2.42 GHz Kryo 485 & 4x1.78 GHz Kryo 485). There is an Adreno 640 GPU. The UFS 3.0 storage on the device comes with Turbo Write and HPB improves overall performance and reduces power consumption. To keep its lights on, the Realme X3 is powered by a respectable 4,200mAh battery with 30W fast-charging support. It takes only 55 minutes to fully charge the Realme X3, claims the company. It runs on the Realme UI based on the latest Android 10 OS. The other features of the Realme X3 include dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, dual-frequency GPS, USB-C, 1216 super linear speakers, and tactile engine linear motor.
