After weeks of speculation and leaks, OnePlus has officially confirmed there is indeed an OnePlus 8T, and it will be launched via an online launch event on October 14th. No other details about the phone were revealed, but a leak published last week by e-commerce site PriceBaba, in partnership with tipster OnLeaks, suggest the 8T will, unlike the OnePlus 8 series, have a flat display panel and a rectangular camera setup located on the upper left corner of the phone’s backside.

According to the same source (Pricebaba), OnePlus 8T will also have a 120Hz panel and run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 Plus. This puts the phone’s hardware at a premium flagship level, which perhaps explains the 8T’s tagline—” Ultra Stops at Nothing.” We can expect the 8T to ship with the Android 11-based OxygenOS 11. While last year’s 7T was accompanied by a 7T Pro, Android Central‘s Alex Dobie tweeted there will not a Pro variant this year. But that’s okay, OnePlus has enough phones on its hands: The OnePlus 8T is arriving just two months after the launch of the mid-range OnePlus Nord, and a rumored Nord N10 5G and OnePlus Clover devices are apparently coming to the US market soon. The OnePlus 8T quad-camera setup may include a new 48MP sensor accompanied by a 16MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 5MP macro, and a 2MP portrait lens. The phone is also rumored to come with 65W fast charging support, which would be a major upgrade over previous OnePlus flagships.
