For the past few years, Vivo has been showcasing its Apex concept phones to the public, giving them a glimpse of what the current state of technology has to offer. This year is no different, as today the company has officially unveiled its next-generation of Apex concept phone, the Apex 2020. As a conceptual phone, it has many exciting features that could (and should) reach the mainstream.

For 2020, Vivo is taking things to a whole new level. The APEX 2020 has a 6.45-inch waterfall display that eliminates bezels on the sides, and the extreme 120-degree curve on either side means you get an "ultra bezel-less display." The NEX 3 has a similar waterfall display, but the curves extend to just under 90 degrees. One of the main highlights this time around is the under-display camera, with the phone featuring a 16MP front camera that's embedded directly underneath the display. Vivo says, "it increased the light transmittance of the part of the screen where the camera is embedded to six times that of the rest of the screen, and in doing so it was able to reduce "optical interference, diffraction, and stray flashes." The cameras on the rear are a bit more interesting. First, there's a 48MP camera with a gimbal-like stabilization mechanism, which Vivo claims has a 200% extended angle of stabilizing compared to traditional OIS systems. The sensor will combine pixels for 12MP images. The other is a 16MP periscope camera with an actual zoom range. It will be able to go from 5x to 7.5x, without digital magnification optically. Another highlight is the 60W wireless charging, which Vivo calls Wireless Super FlashCharge 60W, and it can charge 2,000 mAh battery only in 20 minutes.
