OPPO F5 review

OPPO launched a new member of their most popular Selfie Smartphone F series, The Oppo F5, It is a mid ranger based on latest technology. Here is full detail and review of Oppo F5 that will help you to make a right decision before buying Oppo F5.

Design

OPPO F5 looks slightly similar to the iPhone 7 which’s design is pretty cool and has already copied by many other smartphone companies. So it is not surprising but good for OPPO fans to get more beautiful designed handset. When take a look at smartphone it seems that OPPO F5 is made of metal, although the plastic is used to fabricate device. This reason may cause to disappoint those users who like metal body. Besides this, the clever coating of device is very nice which makes it possible for plastic body to look like metal. The OPPO F5 is 7.5 mm thick and weighs 152 grams which you can handle easily. The front screen is bigger and measures 6 inches diagonally. It has tiny bezels and edge-to-edge display of 18:9 aspect ratio which means OPPO is taking part in latest trend of producing full screen smartphone for middle segment. The edges look some rough but the matte texture helps you to strong your grip on smartphone.

The top of screen is neatly covered with selfie camera lens and a mic-pinhole. At the bottom you will find a speaker grille, 3.5mm audio socket and microUSB port. There is lack of USB C. On the left side of device, there are two dedicated buttons to control up and down volume. A power button and dual SIM tray are equipped on the right side of smartphone. A separate slot is there for microSD card so you have not need to leave any SIM slot. Coming toward the back, there is a fingerprint sensor of oblong shape which is easy to reach so there is no chance to miss the fingerprint. At the corner of the rear side of device a single primary camera lens is assembled beside a LED flash. Overall the device’s body is smooth and symmetrical. It is colored with warm gold with matte metallic texture.

Display

OPPO F5 has a 6.0-inch taller display of 18:9 aspect ratio which means you are getting full screen for amusement. Its bigger screen is excellent for web browsing and we hope you really enjoy faster internet on it. The LTPS IPS LCD display technology gives perfect colorful saturation. It provides bright and clear pictures thanks to its 1080 x 2160 pixels or FHD+ resolution.

This classic display is good to enjoy movies and games but there is a little problem that the OPPO F5 shows vibrant green sickly. Anyway, this error is negligible as compared to its other display qualities.

Software

Basically, Android 7.1 (Nougat) is the platform of device which is one year later OS but works perfectly. It is skinned with a recently launched Color OS 3.2 interface which is highly polished and enhances device beauty. This latest interface supports newer and different themes. It restrains android to flick between too many pages.

The ColorOS 3.2 is slightly similar to the Apple iOS so you can get some iPhone software pleasures in android phone. It brings some extra features like Clone app which allows you to log in to your multiple accounts of the same app, including WhatsApp. The ColorOS 3.2 also saves battery consumption.

Camera

OPPO F series smartphone are well known for its selfie cameras. Like its other siblings, the OPPO F5 is a selfie expert about which the Company said “Capture the Real You”.

The selfie camera has 20MP which is the higher resolution to capture the special moments. When we tested the camera lens it produced great selfies. The video calling results are also splendid. In the mid-range, the OPP F5 is really a nice smartphone for selfie lovers. The other thing which makes it prominent is Al powered beauty feature which makes your selfies more beautiful and helps you to capture you in low light. The Al powered beauty gives a slight bokeh effect when you are enjoying creativity.

There is a 16MP rear camera as well for excellent photography. It is capable to record full HD videos and photographs.

You can capture bright pictures with the assist of LED flash. The back camera is nice but not as the front camera that’s why the photography results are lower than the selfies results.

Face Unlock feature

OPPO F5 comes with face unlock feature which is mostly find in high-end smartphones. The face unlock security of device is not excellent but good for you. Fingerprint reader on rear works quickly but face unlock takes some seconds to recognize you but works very well in daylight. It can disappoint you in dark or low light case. The face unlock needs to improve but currently it is enough capable to identify you in the daylight. It is positive step towards the face unlock security for the mid rangers.

Hardware and Memory

The smartphone houses Mediatek MT6737T chipset which is acceptable and just good for general use. This SoC works perfectly in low-end devices, not better for mid and high-end devices. It can’t support heavy apps and games. The chip is paired with an Octa core 2.35GHz processor which shares the SoC’s burden and helps you to run programs smoothly.

Further, it is aided by a 4GB RAM which makes you enough able to play simple games and offers to do a little better multi-tasking. If the Company raises the chipset then the OPPO F5 would be better. It doesn’t mean you cannot enjoy latest apps, you can install and play a bit heavy games thanks to its octa core processor and 4GB RAM. There is a Mali-G71 GPU which provides fine graphics when you are watching graphical stuff. Internal memory contains 32GB space to store your sufficient data. MicroSD slot is available to extend storage through a memory card.

Battery life

As far as battery life is concerned, the OPPO F5 is powered by a 3200mAh battery which keeps device up for an entire day but not enough for heavy usage, it should be 4000mAh battery. When we tested the battery consumption with mobile data on, the smartphone gives 8 hours incredible performance without hanging or disturbing. Though the device is not supported with fast charging option but its VOOC flash charger refills the lost battery juice without taking too long. It can be recharged from 10% to 100% in less than two hours.
