Huawei has launched three flagship smartphones of 2018 and we are comparing them with head to head including specs and prices to offer you the right choice. Huawei P20 is the standard premium smartphone. The P20 Pro is the high-end device while the Mate RS Porsche Design is the best one with an extremely high price like never before.

Huawei P20 vs P20 Pro vs Mate RS Design

There is no much difference except optics lens between P20 and P20 Pro design and almost both looks same apparently but they differ completely from Mate RS. All these devices have premium metal bodies with a strong glass panel on the back.

The P20 and P20 Pro have notched screens but the earlier one has the dual lens and a 3.5mm jack however the later one has triple camera lenses on its back and no headphone jack. So, we can say that the camera is the only visible difference between P20 and P20 Pro. Talking about the Mate RS, it has no notch and a trendy bezel-less screen. It has triple primary camera lenses like the P20 Pro. The Mate RS has missed the Home Button below the touchscreen whereas the P20 and P20 Pro have the front facing Home button. The headphone jack is also not available in Mate RS.

Huawei P20 and P20 Pro have Fingerprint Sensor on the front under the Home Button while the Mate RS comes with two Fingerprint Sensor – One is embedded in screen and the other is mounted on the rear. The P20 is IP53 rated but the P20 Pro and Mate RS are IP67 rated which means they can bear submersions up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.

Finally, Huawei Mate RS screen spreads up to curvy edges and it is the most premium design among its sibling but the headphone jack attracts fans toward standard P20.

Huawei P20 vs P20 Pro vs Mate RS Display

Display wise, all these smartphones are different from each other. The Huawei P20 sports a 5.8-inch display of IPS LCD instead of an OLED panel. The OLED display shows a better contrast. Anyway, Huawei P20 is good from all viewing angles. It uses the 18.7:9 aspect ratio for its notched screen. There is 1080 x 2244 pixels resolution which is sufficient for a brighter display even in direct daylight.

The Huawei P20 Pro sports 6.1" OLED Display that is nice for vibrant images and rich colorful videos. A bigger display means you can enjoy web-browsing easily. It has the same aspect ratio of 18.7:9. It has also 1080 x 2244 pixels resolution that is plenty for a 5.8" display but low for a 6.1" display. So, Huawei P20 Pro’s OLED display is more beautiful and useful but it gives lower nits brightness as compared to P20.

Huawei Mate RS is a 6.0-inch smartphone that is based on OLED display of perfect 18:9 aspect ratio. It is the bigger as well as the sharpest display of Huawei which uses 1440 x 2880 pixels resolution to provide you much brighter screen for reading, watching and browsing. The Mate RS has been the dream of Apple, as the company had wanted to place the Fingerprint Sensor inside the OLED panel but such an act has done by Huawei, a powerful competitor of Apple which gives tough time to iPhone X.

Coming toward our subject, Huawei P20 and Mate RS both have a beautiful, brighter display. The first one has more than FHD+ resolution for a 5.8” screen and the later one has QHD+ resolution for a 6” screen so both are very well. But the Mate RS shows better contrast and more saturated color images, thanks to OLED panel technology.

In this case, the P20 Pro and Mate RS have the same extremely high performance but they are faster than standard P20. If we come to storage, then the Mate RS is the best choice because it has 256GB for at least and 512GB Storage for the premium version. However, the P20 and P20 Pro come with 128GB Storage. MicroSD slot is absent in all aforementioned devices.

Speaking about the OS, Huawei P20 and its siblings are running on the same software, The Android 8.1 (Oreo) which is polished with EMUI 8.1 so you will get the same OS, doesn’t matter the device is P20, P20 Pro or Mate RS.

At last, the third one is the 8MP telephoto sensor having an f/2.4 aperture. The combo gives a perfect, admirable camera experience.

Huawei P20 vs P20 Pro vs Mate RS Battery and Price

Huawei P20 is backed by a 3400mAh battery however the P20 Pro and Mate RS are fueled by a 4000mAh battery. The 3400mAh battery supports 5.8” display and 4GB RAM however a 4000mAh battery supports 6.0” display and 6GB RAM, therefore, it is concluded that both batteries give approximately equal performance.

Talking about lifetime, Huawei P20 and P20 Pro works longer than Mate RS, as we know the display brightness consumes much battery and Huawei P20 and P20 Pro have FHD+ display so they drain battery slowly as compared to QHD+ display of Mate RS.

Huawei P20 and P20 Pro are supported with only Fast Charging option while the Mate RS is supported with Qi wireless charging as well as Fast Charging.

As for pricing, Huawei P20 is priced at €680 ($800). On the other hand, the Huawei P20 Pro Price is €900 ($1100). However, the Huawei Mate RS Price is €1600 ($1900) which is very, very expensive for a smartphone.

Conclusion

All in all, Huawei P20 Pro is the best choice, as it is presenting IP67 certified premium metal body, a bigger trendy OLED display (although a notch is there), a powerful Kirin CPU with most intelligent AI technology, colossal 6GB RAM, 128GB massive storage, ever best triple Leica-branded camera optics, several new camera features, 720@960fps slow mo, 5x hybrid zoom, higher selfie camera, Face Unlock, Faster Fingerprint Sensor, most up-to-date OS, a long-endurance battery, all these for a price tag of $1100.

Honestly speaking, to spend $800 more on Huawei Mate RS ($1900 price) for an on-screen fingerprint or wireless charging is useless. If you want to experience an under-display fingerprint scanner then go for Vivo X20 Plus (UD). But if you are a fan and wish to get a best Huawei device then select the P20 Pro which gives you almost Mate RS features for a considerable price.
