Oppo Announces 5x Optical Zoom Smartphone Camera

Oppo announces that its next smartphone will feature a 5 times zoom camera as compared to other smartphones in the market. The smartphone will stand out among the crowd due to its outstanding camera sensor while other smartphones offer just 2 times zoom camera.

Oppo’s vice president displayed the technology at MWC 2017 Barcelona. The company used periscope technology so squeezing an optical zoom mechanism into a little space is now possible. Dr King Bai, Oppo’s head of hardware said, “The 90 degree design is the key to our camera set up.”

 

The company claims that it took over a year to develop the technology and 106 engineers were involved in the development of technology and filling of 50 different patents. Oppo’s next smartphone will compete Huawei’s current flagship P10, P10 Plus and ZTE's new wide angled devices.

 

Oppo’s VP and Managing Director of Oppo’s international mobile unit, Sky Li, said that, “We are certainly putting a stake in the ground in terms of technological breakthroughs for mobile photography.” This is exciting news for Chinese and especially Oppo fans, however, for now it’s not confirmed yet when the smartphone will be launched and what price tag will it carry. 

 

Moreover, world’s leading smartphone brand Huawei launched P10 and P10 Plus with Leica rear and front camera. It is the world’s first smartphone to feature leica selfie camera.
