Vivo S9 and S9e with 64MP triple camera setup and 90Hz display announced

As scheduled, Vivo officially unveils its new 5G smartphones, Vivo S9 and Vivo S9e, in China. The latest phones arrive as the successors to last year’s Vivo S7 and S7e. The Vivo S9 comes in Midnight Blue, Gradient Blue, and White colors and will go on sale in China starting from March 12th. On the other hand, the S9e has Diamond Crystal, Aurora Blue, and Obsidian Black color options. It will be available for purchase in China from March 27.

Vivo S9

Starting with the Vivo S9 5G, the smartphone has a 6.44-inch AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+. In terms of design, the Vivo S9 5G has a slightly boxy body, and the back panel offers a square-shaped camera setup. There is an in-screen fingerprint sensor for authentication. The volume and power buttons are available on the right side of the phone. The triple rear camera setup includes a 64MP primary lens, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 2MP macro lens. On the front, the device has a dual-camera setup with a 44MP primary shooter and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. Under the hood, Vivo S9 5G draws power from the MediaTek’s Dimensity 1100 SoC that is coupled with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 internal storage. The smartphone has a 4,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support.

Vivo S9e

The Vivo S9e has the same display specifications as the standard variant, i.e., AMOLED screen with 90Hz refresh rate and an integrated fingerprint sensor. However, the phone offers a water-drop notch at the front. On the front panel, it features a 32MP sensor for selfies and video chats. There is also a 64MP triple rear camera setup for photography experience. Finally, the Vivo S9e 5G is powered by a Dimensity 820 chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB storage.
