Xiaomi announces Redmi Note 9 and Mi Note 10 Lite

Xiaomi hosted an online event to globally launch the Redmi Note 9 series including the Redmi Note 9 Pro and the all-new Redmi Note 9, as well as the Mi Note 10 Lite. Of these smartphones, the Redmi Note 9 and Mi Note 10 Lite are brand new additions, whereas all other smartphones are already available in China and India. The Redmi Note 9 comes in as the base model in the Note 9 series and is likely to be launched as the rebranded version of the Redmi 10X in China soon. The smartphone flaunts a punch-hole display and quad cameras as its key highlights.

Redmi Note 9

The Redmi Note 9 comes with a 6.53-inch full HD+ punch-hole display with a 90 percent screen-to-body ratio and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 Layer. The smartphone is also the world’s first phone with the MediaTek Helio G85 SoC, which sits between the Helio G90 and G80 gaming chipsets. Xiaomi is offering the phone in three configurations – 3GB + 64GB and 4GB + 128GB. The onboard storage of the smartphone can be expanded up to 512GB using a microSD card. In the software department, the Redmi Note 9 boots MIUI 11 based on Android 10. Powering the handset is a beefy 5,020mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. Xiaomi is also offering a 22.5W fast charger in the box. There is a quad-camera module on the back comprising of a 48MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro-shooter, and 2MP depth sensor. The single punch-hole cutout on the front houses a 13MP shooter. For security, there is a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Redmi is offering the Redmi Note 9 in three color variants – Midnight Grey, Forest Green, and Polar White. The phone will retail for $199 and $249 for 3GB, and 4GB models respectively.

Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite

The Mi Note 10 Lite sports a 6.47-inch full HD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G processor paired with an Adreno 618GPU. The device comes with 6GB of RAM along with 64GB and 128GB of internal storage. It runs Google’s Android 10 operating system with the company’s own MIUI 11 skin on top. In terms of connectivity options, the device comes with Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS, Dual GPS, GLONASS, and Wi-Fi 802.11. The phone features a quad camera setup on the back consisting of a 64MP primary sensor paired with an 8MP ultra-wide angle sensor, a 5MP tertiary sensor, and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, it features a 32MP sensor for taking selfies. All of this is backed by a 5,260mAh battery with support for the company’s own 30W fast charging. The Mi Note 10 Lite price in Europe is set at EUR 349 (around Rs 28,400) for the base variant with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. The higher configuration with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at EUR 399 (about Rs 32,500). The phone will be available for sale in black, purple, and white colors starting mid-May globally.
