The brand new Galaxy Note 9 unit caught fire and burst into smoke inside the purse of a Woman, earlier this month. This terrible incident happened in New York (USA) on September 3. Samsung is investigating the matter. It remembers us the Galaxy Note 7, which had launched in 2016 and burst into flames, and Samsung had to recall its 2.5 million units for Note 7 explosion due to extremely high temperature and faulty battery apparatus.

Original Story

A Woman in New York, Diane Chung reported through the New York Post that she was in the elevator and using the Galaxy Note 9 at just after midnight September 3 when the handset suddenly became “extremely hot”. Diane Chung stopped using her Samsung Note 9 and put it in her purse. She heard a whistling and screeching sound abruptly. She noticed thick smoke pouring from her purse.

She emptied her purse on the elevator floor. Her fingers caught flames as she grabbed the burning Galaxy Note 9 from her purse. The Galaxy Note 9 was still burning, as she dropped the phone and started smashing the lift buttons. It was hard to see in smoke.

Reaching the Entrance Hall, she kicked the smoking phone out of the elevator. The Galaxy Note 9 didn’t stop burning until a man picked it up with a cloth and threw into a bucket of water. The fire burnt everything in her purse. The Chung made a complaint for Samsung to the lawsuit.

A Samsung spokesman said “We have not received any reports of similar incidents involving a Galaxy Note9 device and we are investigating the matter.”
