3 – Faster Fingerprint Scanner

Cons:

1 – Previous Android 7.0 (Nougat)

2 – No glass protection

3 – Hexacore processor (downgraded)

Body and Design

Meizu M6s is fabricated with aluminum body and sandblasted metal finish which looks beautiful and premium. The device is 8 mm thick and weighing in at 160 grams. It is the first Meizu smartphone to get side-mounted faster fingerprint sensor about which the Company claims that it will unlock your handset within 0.2 seconds. Power Key is equipped on right above the finger-printer. The left side is decked with volume keys and a dual SIM card tray.

The Screen measures 5.7 inches diagonally. It has reduced bezels as well as 18:9 aspect ratio display sitting beneath the 2.5D glass. The home button was replaced with a small virtual Halo key. The earpiece and a camera sensor are embedded on top of the screen. USB Type C port and Speaker grilles are equipped on the bottom. At the back, a camera lens is coupled with LED flash. Meizu M6s unleashed in Black, Silver, Gold, and Blue. The Gold variant looks more elegant and beautiful than other color variants.

Display

Meizu M6s has a bigger 5.7" IPS LCD display which is quite good from all viewing angles. It is a perfect match for your pocket and hand. You can get full detailed pictures on the screen. The Edge-to-Edge display delivers sharper, bigger and brighter scenes. The 720 x 1440 pixels resolution supports your high definition movies and games. It provides you extremely well (Black and White) contrast ratio of 1000:1. It means you are getting much deeper blacks as compared to whites. You can increase brightness maximum up to 450nits. There is a deficiency of gorilla glass protection which is frustrating for users because your beautiful smartphone screen can be scratched or cracked with ease.

OS

Meizu M6s has an Android 7.0 (Nougat) Operating System which is skinned with a Flyme UI 6.2 overlay. The Android Nougat is annoying old software which does not support many new features those of fresh Android Oreo (8.0).

However, you can keep some good things with the Flyme 6.2 interface which is completely new and more polished. It supports Super back (accessible via Halo button at the screen) to apply more gestures. A long press goes to the home screen, Swipe left or right if you want to switch apps, and Swipe up to drag all the apps. The highlight feature is its AI One Mind Engine technology which improves software performance and decreases power consumption in order to keep up your battery life. It supports the traditional tri-button navigation bar, too.

CPU and Chipset Performance

We are not completely satisfied with its CPU performance. Meizu M6s is powered by Hexacore CPU which ticks at 1.6GHz low frequency. Meizu M5s had Octa-core processor of fast performance while the successor M6s is getting lower speed Hexacore processor. It means multi-tasking efficiency has decreased. On the other side, the given smartphone performance is steady and balanced thanks to its intelligent Exynos 7872 chipset. There is 3GB RAM for the increment in gaming speed. Even the measurable one gigabyte heavy applications run smoothly.

Camera

Meizu M6s comes with 16 Mega Pixel rear camera of f/2.0 aperture. It is capable to capture 3120 x 4208 pixels photographs and 1080 pixels videos at 30fps. It is accompanied by dual LED flashes to attain more brightness. The daylight photography is cool but low light shooting performance is not much improved. The color saturation and contrast are fine. Camera features contain portrait mode, geo-tagging, touch focus, autofocus and face detection, HDR, panorama, GIF Beauty, timer and exposure control etc. You feel good when taking pleasant snapshots.

Meizu M6s has an 8 Mega Pixel front camera. The selfie performance is augmented appreciably. It shoots crisp, bright and splendid selfies. The video call performance is fair but not much admirable. Display brightness is enough to assist Selfie camera, therefore, no LED flash is available on the front.

Battery and Fast Charging Support

Meizu M6s is backed by a 3000mAh battery which is sufficient to keep lights on of device for an entire day with judicious consumption. It gives up to 105 hours standby time, up to 16 hours talk time on 3G, up to 14 hours web-browsing, up to 67 hours music play time, and up to 4 hours video playback time. Meizu M6s is supported with a fast charging option which is pleasant for users. Meizu promises that the M6s recharges 30% in 15 minutes and 52% in half an hour. So, you can refill your battery juice just within 1 hour and 5 minutes.

Verdict

Meizu M6s is a new technology based smartphone. It is the first handset to get the latest Exynos 7872 chipset. The Display, Camera, and Battery performance are also satisfactory. If you can ignore lack of glass protection and previous Android Nougat OS then you can get Meizu M6s having a lot of advantages for an easily affordable price.
